GameCentral reports back from Gamescom on what may be the most technically impressive console game ever made.http://metro.co.uk/2015/08/05/crackdown-3-hands-on-preview-the-xbox-one-killer-app-5329378/#ixzz3i4ULQG00

Simply amazing. Tons of sites are blown away by the Xbox One, the tech involved, MS and the game. It truly is a game changer.

@neversummer75: The PS4 is still more powerful. One game connecting to the cloud doesn't change the fact that the internals of the PS4 are better than that of the Xbox One.

Not anymore...with the power of the cloud, the Xbox One has surpassed it. Exciting times, I know. :)

PS4 is the most powerful video game console in the history of video games.

That is what I thought as well until I educated myself. It was at one time....It officially has been dethroned. :)

Some journalist riding Microsoft's PR train doesn't make me wrong. Nothing he said there actually talks about tech. It's simply clickbait garbage you fell for.

Are you not supposed to be a GameSpot moderator? You are very biased, friend.

Me calling out PR bullshit is not being biased. I just don't like misinformation being spread.

A lot of people here are very misinformed about how dedicated servers and processing works. The entire basis of the thread, the Xbox One being the most powerful console on earth, is misleading and wrong. I'm simply refuting that.

So, the author is spreading lies? Interesting. Can you prove this? Link? Have you heard of the term, "slander?"

It's not like this guys is some bum off the street that is getting paid my MS. This is a respectable gaming journalist from a reputable gaming site. He saw the gaming tech first hand....you have not, friend. I think his opinion carries more weight than yours does on the subject....with all due respect. :)

@darkangel115: It's not the most "technologically advanced". It's got nearly the same internals of the PS4. They are practically the same piece of hardware.

The PS4 can also connect to dedicated servers. That is not something exclusive to Microsoft. This is just a case where a developer is going out on a limb and trying that. That developer does have an advantage of working exclusively with Microsoft which gives them access to the Azure cloud for basically free. This allows them to experiment with this kind of tech. Others could do it, they would just have to pay for it.

So the only real advantage here is on the business side. The developer has basically free reign to develop and experiment with this tech. It probably wouldn't happen on another platform as that kind of R&D would be very expensive. Only a few devs have the kind of cash on hand necessary for that kind of expense.

since when is technology tied to hardware only? realistically speaking, they are really low end PCs and nothing more. It's not just the xbox itself (which does more then any other console but yes still not as feature rich as a PC) but the backing of MS's azure infrastructure. The problem is people can't grasp what they can't touch. Show somebody a bunch of drawings on a ferrari and they are like it's just a car and an engine, but put someone behind the wheel and they will see how it's not the same as a civic. What MS built on the server side is impressive, and the fact that it's being used to make gaming better makes me happy.

Very well put!

@FastRobby: But that's not the argument here. The topic here was saying how the Xbox One was the most powerful console. It's not. You're talking about something, while obviously related, that isn't the point of this thread.

I also remember Microsoft talking about how the cloud would make graphics better. Running physics on a dedicated server is one thing (as that would be required to keep everybody in sync anyways), but somehow improving rendering via the cloud remains impossible in a real world scenario due to the latency between the server and the client.

I never doubted the cloud and its capabilities, I just know what the cloud and cannot do. Microsoft tried to downplay the GPU in the Xbox One being weaker than the PS4 by touting their cloud and saying how that would make up for it. That's just complete bullshit and still remains bullshit to this day.

Until your internet goes out

I hate sony, nintendo, MS andvalve. If my power goes out I can't play any games lol

what? i said internet, not power

It was a joke, because you are saying that a game because useless due to an outage of your utility company so i made the point that what if your power goes it everything becomes useless. it would be like saying netflix sucks because you can't use it if your internet goes out.

I wasn't saying the game, but the console. And i wasn't saying it's useless, but rather about the claim of it being the most powerful console.

It's not the most powerful console, but it is the most technologically advanced console and because of that and MS backend, it'll be able to run games not possible on other consoles despite the better local hardware. it's all semantics for system wars anyway, but the end result is the XB1 will be bale to run games that no other console has the power for and that's impressive IMO

This is exactly why I changed my mind at the last second and got the Xbox One over the PS4. I'm just more excited about the possibilities and what MS is trying to do with it than with what Sony is doing with the PS4. MS is thinking outside of the box while Sony is content with just business as usual. I'm a risk taker and respect others that are the same. MS seems to be the risk taker this generation.
