I think you're a blind fanboy is you cant see Halo 3's graphcis are a big improvement over Halo 2's.lucas_kelly

First of all, yes, I am a fanboy. I'm lemming(xboxlive gamertag: Homer75). So all those people talking at the IGN round table are blind fanboys as well? Come on dude, your the one sounding like a blind fanboy.

Yes, halo 3 still lacks the wow factor. If you look at it factually it still looks quite good (texture quality of gears says proof I can't find right now), but it looks a little bland at places. I think this is mainly a problem for valhalla, I thought high ground and snowbound looked great. I can see how they like the game though. Bungie has apparantly managed to mix the best of halo 1 with the best of halo 2 plus some nice extras. Couple that with great networking I can see how this should be awesome. So yeah, graphics don't necessarily break games...

Have you kept count of your halo 3 beta graphics threads by the way?

Yes I have. I love the Halo franchise and that is why I'm sooo pissed off. If Bungie isnt pushing the xbox360 to the max with this game then I would be extremely disappointed in them. This is the xbox360's flag ship title. Why wouldnt they try and push the xbox360 to it limits and make this game "Next-Gen" on all levels. Including graphics.

I think the word "Beta" needs to be remembered.  It is an early version of the game.  I am sure it will be "polished" for final release and will look a little better.Colinllama

Oh, I'm sure it will look a LITTLE better. But do we really want to accept this average looking game as our "Next-gen" Halo? I for one am very disappointed in Bungie. I really think they took the "safe" route in making this game and it makes me sick.

This goes to show that those people that say Halo 3's graphics are amazing looking are in some serious denial or are blind fanboys. IGN goes as far as to say Halo 3's visuals can be down right ugly at times and that the most recent maps released for Halo 2 had more detail and had better visuals than the maps for the beta of Halo 3.

I for one think the game looks good but is FAR from amazing and is barely good enough to be considered "next-gen." I just don't see there being much improvement on the visuals in the next 5 months or so. Bungie pretty admited that the visuals for the multiplayer version of the game are pretty much final with only a few bells and whistles being added for the finished product.  I'm sure the single player version of the game will look better but the question is, how much better? Will it look anything like the trailers MS and Bungie released not so long ago? If it doesn't look close to those videos then I for one will be very disappointed in the graphics and in Bungie and MS. I'm sure millions of others will be disappointed as well. However, no matter what, this game will sell millions and most likely will have tight gameplay.

I just remember a month ago when the alpha vidoes of this game were released and how people bashed the visuals. Many of my fellow lemmings defended the game saying that it was in "alpha" stage and when the beta version was released that the game would show TONS of improvement. Many of my fellow lemmings asked that everyone wait until the beta version was released of if then the visuals still sucked, then bashing of the games visuals would in fact be warrented. Now that the beta videos and impressions have been released and MOST aren't impressed with the visuals, I see many of my fellow lemmings using the copout, "Halo was never about the visuals and Halo 3 wont be any different." Kinda makes me embarrassed to be a lemming. Although I may be a lemming, I'm an honest one at that. I call them as I see them. Although I think Halo 3 looks good, its not what everyone, including myself, expected.

IGN is wrong then. I agree with Gamespot and 1up that the games looks good for a beta build.

Hm....how about i post the other guys impression.

"You've probably read a lot about how Halo 3 looks in motion. It's hard to really compare Halo 3 to Halo 2 without actually comparing them side-by-side (which we may do for y'all next week). The human mind is tricky. It can easily fool you into thinking that something is similar in appearance solely because the elements are similar. This is what we expect is happening to players in Halo 3, as this is a slick, highly-polished visual treat that is sure to please.

So no, Halo 3 is not "Halo 2 in HD", unless HD automatically means explosions are made realistic, airborne corpses believably rag-doll and character models and background objects burst off of the screen. This is, in fact, about the hard work put into creating Halo 3 and has little to do with the high resolution at all (we should all understand how HD changes a game with Halo 2's move to 720). It's about solid normal mapping and lighting techniques and a physics engine that simply makes character movement in all situations more believable; even when said character is being seen as a third-person casualty hurtling through the air."

Hm....sounds good to me.

Sekeru

He uses words such as solide. That doesnt sound amazing and next-gen to me.

When hes talking about a game for the 360 that means it looks next-gen.And why does it have to looks ultra amazing crysis level?Explain to me what looks bad about the game.

Why dont you ask teamxbox and IGN. They have both actually PLAYED the game and are underwhelmed with the visuals. They can asnwer your question much better than I can.

Do you get off on bashing Halo 3? I've already disproved your "Halo looks teh suxors" thread. Now you're asking about the gameplay of a series which has garnered critical acclaim and revolutionised console first person shooters? This is one guy talking about graphics. He's from teamxbox, which even I accept is a lousy source. You may aswell ask reggie fils-aims what he thinks about the games motion sensing capacity if you're going by team xbox's oppinions.braydee1234

uuuuhhh...where and when did I bash the gameplay other than I was a little disappointed in 16 players max? I've ONLY been critical of the visuals and thats it. Try reading the entire post next time buddy.

[QUOTE="neversummer75"]

[QUOTE="11Marcel"]Why are you obsessed with underwhelming graphics of a game? How many threads have you made by now? The beta looks good, not overwhelming. That's the bottom line, and noone playing the game will give a ****. So, stop beating a dead horse. 11Marcel

I know I know....I'm just kinda pissed and disappointed with Bungie. I feel as if they lied to us.

Where did they possibly lie to you? They've talked about great water, quess what, rightly so it looks gorgeous. They've also talked about the sound effects, and they're overwhelming from what I heard. You don't know how much is going to change too, only bungie knows. Remember that this build runs super smooth, so it's not like they've got no extra room for improvements anymore. They said they just wanted to make the beta an enjoyable experience, and they certainly did. All I see is just you whining about a beta of a game.

I was refering to the videos the released a few months back and how they said that the game WOULD look like that.
