Left 4 Dead Demo Impressions

Let me start by saying... WOW.

When I first heard of Left 4 Dead I was less than excited to say the least.  But then I found out Valve, creator of such games as "Half-Life, Counterstrike, and Team Fortress," I was a little more enthused.  However, I've never been a big zombie shoot 'em up type of gamer.  And I thought I'd stay that way until I played the Left 4 Dead Demo.

The opening cinematic alone was enough to get me hooked, but then they top themselves by having one of the most intruguing gameplay systems I've ever seen.  If you don't already know, Left 4 Dead is a story about 4 people who survived a zombie apocalypse and must somehow survive an onslaught of those zombies attacking them.  This may sound simple and played out, but it really isn't.  The way it's done is so interesting that it's impossible to say that the game is dull.  You and your group MUST stick together in order to survive.  I emphasize the word "must" because it really is a necessary part of the game to stick together.

In the beginning of the demo level, in which you are trying to find your way to Mercy Hospital, you are able to choose from 4 different characters.  I chose Louis the first time around.  Then you are able to choose from a shotgun or a machine gun, you get a health pack and some ammo and your on your way.  Right off the bat you see some zombies, which are extremely well designed I might add, which lunge at you in an attempt to infect you.  Or even kill you.  You eventually get to the hospital after you kill hundreds of zombies.  Even a mini-boss is incorporated into the level.  The online is the same except with humans controlling the characters instead of AI.  It is quite satisfying either way.

This game is an unexpected jewel which I know I wont miss out on.  Will you be Left 4 Dead?!

This game comes out this Tuesday, November 18 in the U.S. for Xbox 360 and P.C. don't miss out on this spectacular game!
