My bought new xbox has done this since I got it and its been going strong for a year and a half so I wouldn't worry.

I would go with this one
Not only does it have the fans, but it also adds a bunch of handy standard A/V video connections on the back too. (no HDMI though *sniff)

You do realise thats where the hot air exits the system, putting another fan there would only blow the hot air back into the xbox.

I think playing with a few friends would be a good idea. I don't like the idea of an MMO because enivitably it's goiing to have a monthly fee.
I think the price tag is ok if you havn't bought any of the current map packs. As for ODST being open world, i think it is unlikely and the only open world shooter i ahve ever heard of.
The main gears of war is a trilogy, THere will be a carmine in the next gears becauses there are 3 carmine brothers.
Xbox is unlikely to ever get blue-ray because the disk was made by sony and own the rights to it. However blue ray will soon be out dated. On the news recently holographic disks have been eveloped that can hold 1TB of information so maybe the next xbox will include this.
I think fully destructible environments would be a good idea, it would make messing around in GTA a lot more fun. They should make more buildings that you can enter. They should also get rid of the blocked bridge thing, it happens in every game and it punishes players who prefer to free roam and have little interest in the story.
