am looking at Asus N43 and A42. Both came with i7-740QM and 4GB DDR3 RAM. The main different is GPU N43(GT435) and A42(HD5730). both are mid-range card. read some benchmarking tests data on www.notebookcheck.com but don't really comprehend the analysis. but will appreciate if any bro here can tell which card is better for gaming?

probably u can go for all the sid meier's classics like civilisation series, railroad tycoon, pirates (and its predecessor "unchartered water") etc...

other recommendations:

dune & dune2, sim city series, homeworld series, command & conquer series, call of duty series, grand theft auto series, company of heroes series, battlefield: bad company series, half life series, settlers series, diablo, crysis, x-com, total war series... sorry i hv been pc gaming for 25 years and there are just too many of good games and i can't really recollect all of the titles.

in the early years i mostly played strategy games but i observed in the past 2-3 years there not not many good strategy titles were released and no major breakthrough in this genre. nowaday i play more first-person-shooter like COD...

probably u can start with those top rated game (all time) in gamespot.

you see, my job requires me to travel on a very frequent manner with a business laptop mainly meant for business presentation. now i plan to replace my 4yo+ laptop with one that cater for gaming as well. as we all know business laptop normally does not come with good graphic card and the design of gaming laptop could be too "glaring" for business presentation (also most of them are very heavy too). so when i came across a device like ViDock it's like a light in the tunnel and hopefully it's not the headlight of a train. will appreciate if you could enlightened me with some knowledge on ViDock from your experience.

is ViDock a "plug-and-play" device that all we need is the ViDock (and its accessories) and an external graphic card, with some simple assembly process for execution?

is it necessary to have an external monitor to use the ViDock? what i mean is that can it use it just to by-pass the integrated graphic processor (or mobile graphic card) with the laptop's screen remains my monitor?

do we need any software to run the ViDock?

hi bros, i came across some articles on ViDock to connect an external graphic card to a laptop but still don't know how it actually works. wonder any of you have experience in the application of ViDock?

i read some articles about ViDock tho don't really know how it works but do u guys think is it practical to connect a dedicated graphic card to a laptop using a ViDock as and when I want to play game? if yes where can i get (or if there any) off-the-shelf type of ViDock that suit to my purpose?

but it's going to look weird using a "so abvious" gaming laptop for a business presentation. anyway i think the M11x is not light probably weight above 2000gram.

actually i m considering Asus N43 tat came wit Intel i-7, 4Gb RAM and GT435M and cost around $1,300.

another option is Toshiba R700 (around $1,500) which is much lighter and came with Intel i-5 but without a graphic card.

can any bro here advise whether how far an Intel integrated graphic chipset can go when it come to gaming?

Hi All, need your suggestion. I am planning to buy a laptop, which can cater for both work and play (motto: work hard, play harder). Since I am also always travelling, weight of the machine is also quite an important factor.

Will appreciate any suggestion considering these factors:

Screen not more than 14"

Weight not more than 2.5kg

Acceptable battery life (since i m always on the go so not easy to hv direct access to power)

I am not too fuzzy on the quality of the screen display as long as I am able to aim and kill the enemies

Recommendations on good CPU and GPU at least able to play the latest titles like COD Black Op, WoW, Company of Heroes etc..

Budget around $1,500.
