nishamuffypuppy Blog

Rather depressing .... and rather exciting

It looks like here we have another one of everyone typical 'good news, bad news' blogs. So I'll start with the bad news first ... so maybe you can leave on a happy note ... or not ... :|

THE BAD:

- I guess you can just say last night was a rather emotional night for me - one of my best friends was having rather suicidal thoughts last night and it was rather depressing and taking a toll ... but I spent some time with him today and things are much better, but I hope things work better. He has a really large backstory behind him that supports some of his actions, though it would be too much to post in a blog - and I'll respect that part of his privacy. Well at least he is okay. :)

- I found out last week that I am bi-polar. Okay well honestly this isn't something that I would consider bad, however I guess now I know the cause of a some rather annoying intervals of depression that haunts my emotions for periods at a time ... but hey, honestly I am happy that I know what the cause is. As of now I should be on three medications ... however, one causes drowsiness so I can only take it on weekends, and the other two I am not sure what to make of them. So with that, I think I'm just going to be put on Prozac ... just like the rest of my family!

THE GOOD:

- Lots of good gaming news for Nintendo fans ... yes, there has been plenty of good gaming news for Nintendo fans. To begin with, Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Sonic the Hedgehog, and some positive impressions of the gameplay demo make me really excited for the game! Though while Smash Bros. was delayed, it is only two months and the longer, well I think we can expect the game to be better. As well, there were also some new information for Advance Wars DS 2, Mario Baseball on the Wii, Fire Emblem on the DS, and ... Link's Crossbow Training ... though honestly that's something I'm not exactly keeping close tabs on.

- The New Zunes come out soon. :) Hardly something to be excited about for most of you, but what the hell ... I'm looking forward to it. Of course I will be picking up the Zune 80 GB so ... or I am pretty sure I am

One Big Ass Show!

Well hey guys - haven't blogged much in awhile, a bit of the same - more or less busy with school and some other things, but other than that, life is pretty good. So if some of you know, as of last weekend I went to a concert to see the band: The Used.

Well, they were playing at an annual local event sponsored by our local radio show called the X96 Big Ass Show, and it was a large showcasing of bands and different sets of music ... From 11:00 in the morning until 6:00 in the evening, it was a nice long event full of loud music, crazh mosh pits, crowd surfing, and tons of fun. I hope you're familiar with some of the bands that played:

- Victim Effect
- Schoolyard Heroes
- Madina Lake
- The Starting Line
- Cold War Kids
- Sum 41
- Jimmy Eat World
- Social Distortion
- The Used

I hope you're familiar with at least one of these bands - I can't think of a reason why you shouldn't be. :P

Obviously, I went mostly appearing for the last band, The Used - whom they also come from Utah. So yes it was a fantastic show, Jimmy Eat World, and Madina Lake put on a great show - plenty of moshing, crowd surfing - though a lot of contact with sweaty people and scents of body odor weren't exactly the greatest thing ... :x

Though its been about two days since the concert - and I'm still sore from moshing, as well as crowds pushing towards the center of the stage to get closer to the artists. Well it was a fun night that I'll definitely remember, and I'll definitely be looking forward to it again next year.

Too tired to even play Zelda?!?

Heehee ... yes honestly ... it's only about 8:45 but I"m dead tired ... just a crazy week with more homework and talking late on the phone last night about all kinds of things with Chantel, but hey I guess it was still good ... But in other news, of course, if you're completely oblivous to the blog title then of you course you should know that some point in this blog will it contain something about:

Zelda Phantom Hourglass:

Ahh yes another Zelda game at long last, it's fantastic. Honestly I haven't been too hyped about this game lately, or even any type of game for that matter (I haven't even played Metroid Prime 3 in awhile because I've been too busy or too tired, sad ... I still got to play through that one) but hey.
Well the good news is, once I turned on the DS and watched the opening video of Phantom Hourglass, I was immediately transported back into wonderful memories of the Wind Waker and I felt I was back in 2003 all over again ... well more or less, and in a good way. :) I'm having much fun with this game so far, even if the controls are a bit different to get used to, they sound like they can get quite fun later on ...
Though I've only played the game for about 40 minutes ... and now it's time for me to go to bed and get some sleep, how depressing ... oh well that's how life works!

Well in other news, I guess there's another concert I'm attending this weekend, which I mentioned about twelve times in every blog for the last two months ... :P Yes The Used is coming to Utah this Saturday and I can't wait, it should be exciting. :D
I'll probably post a few updates about what happens at the concert, though it shouldn't be anything too crazy ...

And in other news, Microsoft is supposed to reveal the new Zune to the world a little bit later tonight, fun! Well good night gamers. :)

Sorry for a rather un-interesting blog with well ... nothing much at all. :)

P.S. The new SSBB video of Solid Snake, and the Super Mario Galaxy intro surfaces - wonderful. :D

I've Just Had One of the Best Nights in a Really Long TIme ...

*The Good*

Ahh well another week ... school, work, homework, and sadly only a few games here and there, but wait, there's more? Yes, yesterday, Monday, I went to my second concert, and it was absolutely amazing: far better than I thought it would ever be, a concert for:

Blaqk Audio:

Now I'm willing to bet that none of you, or at least one of two of you, will know who this band is. If some of are you are familiar with the band AFI (known mostly for their song Miss Murder), then you should have some idea. Well like I said in a previous blog, Blaqk Audio is a side project of the band, though two of the band members the guitarist Jade Puget and lead singer, Davey Havok, creatured a dance music side project consisting only of a keyboard, synthesizers, and a laptp - straying from their traditional alternative sound.

As of yesterday, I went to their concert ... this is only my second concert, however, it was far better than the last one I went to (Def Leppard and Journey, not saying it was bad though!). Though this one, just felt - so fresh and amazing, it's definitely something that I'll never forget ... the two band members Davey and Jade coming through the fog to the scream of many fans, it was amazing ... and their blast of such rich and fantastic music, it was amazing. Not to mention being in the crowd was fantastic - if you've been to a concert, then you'll know what it's like when everyone is humbled so closely together ... there's almost no need to jump, dance, cheer - the crowd does it and carries it with you! :) Though it was hard to take pictures with my cell phone! :x
Davey and Jade put so much of their soul into their music and their performance, it was just like watching videos of AFI from their DVD ... it was all I could have hoped for ... And at times, I was about 10 Feet from Davey and Jade! in fact, I nearly cried at the end when it was over, and hearing the screaming of all the fans when they played their last song, Stiff Kittens, was absoutely amazing. I never would've thought that Davey could sing so good live - he put more into it in his performances than he does in his recording sessions, but hey, that's not much of a surprise. He's an amazing character. :)

It was such an amazing night and I'll never forget it ... I only wish it would've lasted longer ... I would die to see them again ... well, at least I have The Used coming next weekend to keep me company. :)

Davey and Jade from: Blaqk Audio

... and from AFI:

So hey, if you're looking for a new band to look into, then go look them up on www.myspace.com/blaqkaudio - you may be glad you did. (Checking out AFI too, if you're unfamiliar wouldn't be a bad idea either :) Their two singles, Semiotic Love and Stiff Kittens are fantastic ... Stiff Kittens their most popular song obviously gets fantastic crowd reactions. And during the concert well, lets just say that when Semiotic Love came on as they played, he told us to ''fuc*ing dance like we've never danced before!'' What would I do to not experience that again!

I've been really busy and stressed lately ... homework, all kinds of things, and going to a concert like this is really something that I needed ... I really need to get out more something more along these lines, I mean.

*The Bad*

Well Chantel, my girlfriend, and I have been together for 78 days (yes I count!) and things have been good, but I guess yesterday is when you call our first fight ... or at least seriously getting annoyed and mad at one another, there was no name calling or anything ... really more or less I think she was annoyed that I was going to the concert. She had to work and that made her mad - I asked her to come with me but she never wanted to. But yet, she knows I've been looking forward to going for the last two months, but I just wish she'd be a bit happier for me rather than now, answering me shortly, bluntly, or at least completely ignoring me ...
Sometimes I wonder how long this relationship will last - well, a statement of 'it was meant to be' is far from, but who knows what will happen ... life goes on doesn't it?

I know some people out there don't care to hear much about personal problems, especially those involving relationships ... but honestly, that's about all there is in my life right now that's bothering me a bit ... but hey, I don't think I'm as worried as I should be ...

Calling All Wii Owners ... Strikers/Corruption Friend Codes, & Brawl Online

Hello guys! Well sorry I haven't been too active in the last couple of days, I'm trying to keep up. School and everything is rather busy, but now it's mid-terms at the end of the week already! Boy does time fly ...
So in other news, here I go I thought it'd be nice to post my friend codes here for a few new friends and those who I may have missed, SO. Here you go:

Nintendo Wii/Metroid Prime 3: Friend Code: 4480 0230 8902 4595
Mario Strikers Charged: 489736 424245

Not sure if there will be anything to do with usernames, if so then my name is probably Darkmagcite, Nishamuffypuppy, Carlisle, Carlizzle, or just Eric. :)

And lastly in other news, we have finally received confirmation on online play for Super Smash Bros. Brawl! What do you know ... in the end I"m happy to hear of the announcement, though I come a way a little disappointed ... here's my rundown
- The text messaging, via the control pad is pointless and well ... meh ...
- Friend Codes, with no way to add rivals or other people ... ? And looking at the screenshots posted, the number of digits doesn't match the friend codes of our Wii systems, so I guess that means separate Friend Codes ...
- Lastly, no ranked battles?!?!?
- No voicecha/headset support?

Sadly, what I was hoping for the most in online play really hasn't come fully ... I was hoping for worldwide rankings so I could rank myself amongst the best of the best and work my way to the top (yes you heard me, the TOP!) ... it's not the biggest deal, but it was something that I was looking forward to. There's more to come so maybe there will be some better news or some cool features, but otherwise that's all there is I guess ... Though at least I can still the play the game as much as I want, with friends ... Oh well, I guess I can just continue to say that I'm the best Smash Bros. player anyways and not worry about my ranking! :P

And they confirmed the Ice Climbers!

A Little Gaming Drought, Anime, and an old band rediscovered:

Hey well it's been a pretty busy week for me, I hope things have been going good with you all. This has been an incredibely slow week at school, but it's still been a good week all the same. For once, everyone is settled perfectly into their cl@sses and we can start efficently learning the cirriculum that is given during the school lessons, which is a good. thing. :)

As for gaming ... well sadly enough I haven't gamed in a bout a week, and of that list includes Metroid Prime 3. It saddens me ... I love the game, I just haven't been able to find the time lately to be able to pick the game up and play it ... hopefully it won't be that way soon after I get bits of homework out of the way ... at least now it's time for a good long deserved weekend. :)

And in other news ... I've read a couple of magnas that my girlfriend, Chantel has given me. She really loves anime.magna, and for me, I love the style but I haven't spent too much time becoming familiar with a series (except Dragonball Z!). Of that, she has let me read now, four little animes all of which I've enjoyed very much.

- Juvenile Orion - I read this awhile ago and am a little iffy on the details, but if I'm not mistaken this manga was published by Square Enix and I found it rather enjoyable. Dark powers, spirits, and the fate of a group of high school students may be the key to saving the rest of humanity ...

- Sequence - A nice little magna about spirits and vampires, and even some debate about the gender of a character in the novel, I really enjoyed this one a bit, but the remainding part of the series isn't available in the U.S. and the first book leaves you hanging! :x

- Legal Drug - I really liked this, although I wish there was more to read! It's about two guys, who stumble themselves into working in a Drug Store that do all kinds of operations ... it's more along the lines of a comedy, with some suspense, and from all I've spent I've enjoyed it a lot. The cross dressing parts of the third novel kept me laughing a bit too. :)

- Gravitation - By far this is my favorite anime that I've read. It's about the story of a high school student named Shuichi Shindou who wants to become rock star, but by fate stumbles across the beatiful writer named Eiri Yuki - who reads some of Shuichi's music, labelling his lyrics as crap. Eventually the two fall in love, Shuichi lists his way to fame, and you'll learn about Yuki's dark past. This is a fantastic series so far ... I've read four of the twelve books in the main series, and it has a great sense of humor. I'm not too fond of the ****in the earlier novels, but then it turns out great. It really is a rather cute, and sweet novel, full of all kinds of sets of humor that keeps me coming back. :) It's a shame that Shuichi isn't a real person in life ...

Rediscovering an Old Band:

All right, I wouldn't say along the lines of 're-discovering' an old band ... however, a couple years back one of my favorite bands was the Australian band known as Savage Garden. I really enjoyed it then, and I recently just remembered the band and decided to pick up their rather new Greatest Hits compliation. It's like finding an old friend all over again - I can see why I loved the music. The singer, named Darren Hayes, has an absolutely beautiful voice in his music, though, I can see that the whole 'Pop' genre does take it's toll on me now again, and it really feels strange listening to a genre that I don't prefe as I would much more prefer rock - regardless of that, it's really good to be back to listening to this band again - it's a shame their not together, because it would be nice to see them live in the lights on stage. Well that's all for now, enjoy the weekend. :)

I Feel Like A Bully ... (And an iPod Rant!)

Bullying is Bad:

I feel like a bully ... and I don't like the feeling ... okay not quite too much of a bully I still feel sad about something I did.
Basically what happened, was a few days ago I was at my buddy Douglas's house with his little five year old Cousin (who we call Ebby!). So Ebby was sitting around the backyard and then a little girl comes over to play who Ebby doesn't like very much ... so they have their cute little talk for a few minutes and then out of the blue I shout 'Ebby, who has cooties?!?!?', and he points at the little girl ... the little girl of course, is also about five years old and then she starts to cry! I felt so horrible ... and so then I said I had cooties instead and she felt better ... *Sigh* Oh well - at least it's nice to know Ebby doesn't like her but ... but she has feelings too!

iPod Rant:

In other news, I sold my iPod a couple months ago as a need for funds, and I've been getting ready to pick up a new MP3 player later this year. Of course, Apple recently had a press conference and recently released information on their new line of iPods! All in all ... I have mixed reactions. The iPod cl@ssic is a rather ... well, more of the same, only has a nicer interface and has the iPod Nano-esque shell which is good, as I am a freak when it comes to fingerprints ... And of course, the iPod Nano looks very nice, and even has a screen for videos! That wasn't expected at all!
And lastly, the wonderful iPod Touch ... wonderful, maybe a bit ... I mean, it's an iPhone without the phone ... anything original about that? Well I guess the Wi-Fi is nice ... but it's nothing I'll get excited about ... and I purchase CDs instead of iTunes music so I'm not too excited about the wireless story either. (I'm such a party pooper) And what else, only 8GB and 16GB of memory?!?!? For a wonderful little device like that with such little memory?!? My iTunes could well fill up this little device within the next month ... (about the time it releases, too). I'm disappointed!

The rather sexy iPod Touch ... which looks like an iPhone ... :| Too bad it has such a limited memory capacity, or I would be thrilled to own one ...

Yet however, in the end, I think my ending choice would be to decide to purchase an iPod cl@ssic instead of the new iPod Touch. There's a much larger capacity of memory, the interface is much more beautiful and it seems more durable and protective (my two biggest complaints about the iPod Video), and it's releasing soon with the same price tag. I wasn't disappointed with my past iPod and the new touch looks to deliver my needs just fine.

The new iPod cl@ssic is more or less the same as the Video, just a bit touched up. It wouldn't surprise me to find this device in my home soon ...

HOWEVER!

If some people know, who have kept up with a few blogs I posted around April, then some of you know I am VERY fond of Microsoft's Zune. Despite the fact that my Zune failed me with a faulty screen crack that Microsoft won't recognize as a manufacturer's problem, I still love the device and - I just love how it is. The interface, the double shot effect, the nice design, and the big screen, it worked well for me. However this new iPod is looking great, but a new Zune is going to hit the surface soon around November (as sources confirm). Likely a thinner design, a new interface (though I loved the old one), more memory, as well as a linkn of 'Zune Nanos', it should be a good holiday for MP3 player purchasers ... if the new Zune impresses me and doesn't have any problems, then it will definitely make it's way into my hands instead of an iPod (everyone has their preferences!). Otherwise, this new iPod will edge it out.

Lastly, I am now typing on my laptop! So yes, my AC Adapter finally came in the mail and I'm back where I belong. With that I can get back to how I enjoy working on the computer, and now I am able to listen to my music, and access sound on a computer! :P

P.S. I don't remember if I asked this question before, but do any of you have a Deviantart?

*Sniff* My Wii Sensor Bar Broke ...

Well right when I was excited for the long four day weekend (we have Tuesday off at our school, but have to pay for it during Spring Break ... ), and I was getting hyped to get some good gaming time in on Metroid Prime 3, Killer 7, Strikers, and Warrior Within, I came upon my Wii yesterday and turned my system on. There was no cursor on screenw hen I was navigating the menu. I thought it was the remote so I switched remotes but it wouldn't work either ... so then I checked my sensor bar and wiped off smudges and everything ... and there was nothing ... So I wrote a letter to Nintendo to see if they could help only, I realize they probably can't ...

Because thismorning I tried again and examined the bar, and the wire was cleanly snapped in half! Rather depressing, though really it shouldn't come as surprising realizing how small and fragile the wire is on the sensor bar ... so with that, I'll be withdrawing some funds from my bank (I have shopping to do on Tuesday and I'd rather not meddle with my funds for that! :P ) and purchase a Wireless Sensor Bar from Nyko, as well as some rechargeable batteries for it. At least I won't have to worry about snapping cords this time. :)

So yes, obviously I'm highly enjoying Metroid Prime 3! It may well be my favorite game for the Wii (as Twilight Princess is more of a GameCube title, but even so, Prime 3 would hold up just as strong if it was) and I'm loving it I'm about three hours into the game, just barely retrieving the missile launchers for Samus' spaceship ... yes I know, I'm probably much further behind everybody else since my last play day on Friday ... :|

In other news, the first week of school is over and with it came a large group of homework that I had to do ... fun ... most of was a bunch of homework from AP European History ... three hours of learning about off the wall things such as the 'Auscula Filis', the 'Four Articles of Prague', and many many Popes! Though it doesn't matter ... I'm probably the only kid alive who enjoys homework! :D (Most of the time)...

As for what's next, likely my next gaming purchase will be The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, and Guitar Hero III. Hearing of the preview of GHIII and learning that it will be a nice and true GHIII experience on the Wii gets me really hyped up for the game and really don't have any doubts about it whatsoever (and it's 10.00 cheaper! :D ). This should be on the pre-order list soon!

And how can I forget, Blaqk Audio is coming to Salt Lake City on September 24! I can't wait! Though this is only my second concert, and the first one without seats! :P It'll be a great show! And in case some of you were wondering ... it's a side project by two members of the band, AFI. :)

Hope things are well! Nisha of course, says hello! :)

Hmm ... did my account get hacked?

Hmm I wonder if I got hacked? It seems that one of my pictures, the one I posted of Samus, was replaced by an incredibly disgusting picture of ... well let's just say it looked like some guy opening up southern end for something ... creepy ...
It wouldn't surprise me if it was my brother but ... oh well ... it's not the first time he's intruded into my stuff ...

Oh and of course, yesterday was my first day of 10th grade, it was great! I loved it, but the only problem is I had to drop Drawing, but I replaced it with Photography for a year so I'm happy about that. I got into my Intermediate Algebra Honors hour, so I'm happy about that, though now I also am a TA for a teacher I'm not too fond of ... she's my history teacher, and it always sounds like she is crying when she talks ... :|

And of course, I'll be picking up Metroid Prime 3 today! I can't wait. I'll give impressions sometime soon, but it'll be yet another good day. :) Oh yes, and in other news, I re-rated all of my reviews according to Gamespot's new review system ... though I don't like it as much as it was, I guess change can be good in MOST cases ... and I also deleted four of my reviews, all of them scoring above a 9.5 when I reviewed them! Baten Kaitos, Tales of Symphonia, Paper Mario 2, and Metroid Prime 2. Those didn't seem to be written as well now that I look at them so I thought it would be fine to just get rid of them ... maybe I'll rewrite them someday. :)

P.S. By the way, today is an even better day because I don't have to go to school until 11:00 - that's when school starts because today is our mass schedule change day!

A Summer Recap, and Schools Starting ...

Well summer has come and gone ... pretty quickly if I might add ... faster than usualy anyways. So with that, school starts on Monday and I thought I'd give the summer some justice and a nice farewell as it comes to a rather abrupt, but nice end. :) Here's a recap of some things:

WHAT HAPPENED THIS SUMMER: THE DIARIES OF NISHAMUFFYPUPPY: (Was that too dramatic?)
- Vacation: I went to California with my dad for birthday ... we went to San Francisco and Oakland and saw the poor Red Sox lose to the Oakland A's in a baseball game ... it was a fantastic ride, but ... I accidently delted every picture I took ... :|
- Work: Well since I'm still working at my first job, I've worked longer hours over the summer ... up to eight but an average around five, usually lessened because of ...
- Band Camp: Two series of camps dedicated to the wonderful delight of playing cla$$ical music. :) From Beethoven's 9th Symphony to Disney's The Incredible's, it was an overall fantastic musical experience that I'd love to go back to next year.
- My First Kiss: Well what do you know you only get your first kiss once! Well amidst the conversation about Weird Al stating Satan's love for Cheese Wiz, I guess it's not very typical :P But in other good news, Chantel and I are still going steady and rather strong. :)
- Interesting Friendships: Well for one thing this summer, I felt like I've become closer to a few friends and separated from others, however I'm mostly fine with how things are but ... interesting. And of course, it all happens as a result of teenage drama, what else? :?
- Random: Oh and I got my ear piereced ... I only took the liberty in posting this just to annoy Fishdalf. :P
- Gaming: In terms of gaming, I just about finshed all of the games in my GCN collection, along with a few purchases of games along the way ... I only have four GCN games to finish, and two Wii games to finish before my entire collection can take a break for awhile. It'll all be good, but why stop gaming when Metroid comes out on Tuesday? :P

So there you have it, the happenings and the most notable events of this summer. Something felt different this summer than my previous summers but I've enjoyed it ... I feel older and for some reason, more relaxed about some things and more tense about others. Once school starts, things will begin to change, in what I believe to be the biggest change in my life for my educational career so far ... I don't know, things will just be different this year - it is only 10th grade as I have two more years of high school left over, yet I'm still looking forward to it either way. Though, I still have the same friends I've had since elementary school, as well as a fair few new ones that I can trust and stick with until the end of it. :) And on a happier note, here's my schedule. I have mixed feelings about it, but I'm always nit picky with things ...

10th Grade Sophomore School Schedule:
1. Drawing I
2. English Honors
3. Introduction to Health and Technology
4. Human Biology Honors
5. Spanish II Honors
6. AP European History
7. -
8. -

WHERE THE HELL ARE MY 7th AND 8th PERIODS?!?!?!?
Yes well I guess that's one thing I'm not happy with about my schedule ... this is the first year where I've really had problems. In terms of periods, I'm missing Algebra II Honors, and Concert Band. I hope to get it fixed when school starts tomorrow and the counselor said I shouldn't worry, but I do anyways.
(And in case you are wondering, I have Introduction to Health and Technology as a 3rd Period because I'm doing a program at my high school called 'School of Health Careers', a special program designed for students going into medical profressions. )

Lastly, I end on a gaming note. There isn't much new except for my excitement for the release of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. :D I'll be in true FPS heaven on the Wii this Tuesday. 8) Secondly, I've been continually playing Super Mario Strikers: Charged. A very good game I might add, though I stlil have room to improve on the game. I have three more Challenges to complete (Yoshi's, Bowser Jr's, and Diddy Kong's) and I've completed the Crystal Cup, and am near close in completing the Striker Cup ... I always end up in the first elimination match before being defeated ... well just for my second try, but at least my second time around I was able to progress further enough to not lose a single match! I should get my AC Adapter for my laptop soon, and when I do, I'll be looking forward to playing some of you online. :D
Other than that, I've started playing Prince of Persia Warrior Within again, and found it rather easier the second time ... I never beaten it the first time because of a horrible moment with my memory card ...

Other than that, it's way past the time I should be staying up ... a new school year begins Monday and I'm looking forward to it, but I need some nice earned rest before I get going with that. Until then, happy starts to a new school year and happy gaming.
*Exit quietly, Nisha's napping*
