You are 3 years late

From the "In-game shot..." dept:

So I kinda thought I'd never actually take the time to type one of these things up but I just had to commit these current thoughts of mine to some sort of print. I'm sure they will kill at least 5 minutes of boredom (and provide 5 seconds of amusment) in 2 years when I stumble upon them again. Browsing gamespot yesterday and today I notice updates to a game that was last heard from in 2004 and assumed to have died in development. The gamespace was updated yesterday with a new trailer that looked like it was from 2002.

You are Empty

The company line: This first-person shooter is set in an alternate 1950s Soviet Union and pits players against a race of genetically enhanced soldiers.

Wait, this sounds familiar....

Then I also happen to notice a game called Cryostasis which put out a PR last year:

Cryostasis

The company line: Cryostasis is an FPS horror game set in 1968, inside a Russian north pole nuclear station filled with mutated creatures.

Apparently different russian based developer but also published by 1C. Lest anyone think that 1C was limiting themselves to publishing "FPS amidst a Soviet Leave it to Beaver Nuclear Apocalyptic Wasteland" titles they also have "Rig N Roll Tycoon" on deck.

Rig N Roll Tycoon

The company line: This truck driving simulation lets players deliver cargo, race, and visit California cities including San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Jose.

Judging from the screenshots, it appears you are placed in the role of Matthew McConaughey crossed with.....I'm gonna say Joe Piscopo...maybe a little bit of 8 seconds Luke Perry. Your support team looks to be some computer whiz kid and a female. You can write your own jokes from here.

Matthew Mcconaughey      +   Joe Piscopo = God gave Rig N Roll to you ??

Im guessing the genesis of all this rehash madness is that somebody saw all the Clive Barker Jericho coverage, coupled with the excitement surrounding the upcoming releases of Crysis and BioShock. Throw in the recent release of Shocker and you've got this whole weird vibe of "Hey we're *also* working on an FPS thats all creepy........and alternate reality.....russia.....1950/1960.......nuclear/cold war something.......mutants.......trucking tycoon"

I don't like it. Maybe it's just me.
