Me and my updates

If anyones interested for the past few months now I've been doing all my updating on my own site www.awesomeghost.com so check it out if your interested.

New Games

This past week has made me the proud owner of several new things.  These include a DS Lite Black (simply gorgeous), Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime, and Okami.  I could not be happier about any of these, they are all amazing.  I'm about 75% done with DQ and then next on the list is Okami so reviews will be up sometime after I finish.

Also, I'm putting together a Guitar Hero Tournament in Chicago (if anyone is nearby and wants to come let me know by emailing ChicagoGH@gmail.com) and I'm working on getting a RedOctane sponsership for it.  It's going to be a blast.

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

Oh no!! It happened again!

Well, I thought I was done, but I wasn't....with what you ask?  Well, that little game called Guitar Hero.  If you check through my blogs you'll notice it was one of my first Gamespot blogs about how awesome GH is.  However, after beating all the levels in all difficulties (except easy, cause it was just stupidly easy) and 5 starring 90% of those I thought I was done with the game.  Lucky for me my roommate starting playing it about a week ago (for the first time) and I was instantly re-addicted.

I haven't been able to stop playing this game and to be honest all my expert scores have gone up by at least 50,000 points (many much more) I have a few 100%'s under my belt and a ton of 99%'s.  It's insane how addicting this game is.  I am currently working to put together a competition at my school (Columbia College Chicago) and get it sponsered by RedOctane.  (If you look on their site they have a section dedictated to sponsering tournaments).

On top of this I've started to take part in the little thing called "Freetar Hero."  This is a homebrew Guitar Hero, but you can use the Freetar Hero Editor and import your own songs and create the notes where/how you want them.  It may sound like a pain, but it's all better thanks to Radioshack.  For those of you who don't know, Radioshack sells a Playstation to USB converter.  This allows you to plug any type of controller (Dualshock, Guitar, DancePad, etc) with a Playstation style end into a computer.  It works great for emulaters and also for creating Freetar Hero songs and playing them.  Wow is it amazing.  All those songs you wish were on GH you can now do yourself!  And then some.  Of course, it does take a bit of effort.  Personally though, I'm totally down for it.

Oh yeah, and I must also mention that I bought a DS Lite black!  I've been waiting for this moment for a long time.  I wanted the white one pretty bad, but said I'd hold off then going over to Europe in the summer I caught a glimpse of the Black one and told myself whenever that came to the states I'd definitly be picking it up.  Sure enough it came and I got it!! And its amazing.  My sister also got the pink one which is way cool to.

Wow.  Good week?  I think so.

If you're as into Guitar Hero as I am please send me some messages and let me know.  When I get a bit better I'm going to work on posting up some videos somewhere of me rAWking out (look how cool I spelled that?! pfffft)

Laaaaaaaaaaaaater (con style)

Another one done

I finished up Grandia III yesterday.  In a nutshell the game started off strong and by disc two starting going downhill quick.  If you're interested to hear my thoughts on it you can check out my review I wrote up.  All in all I gave it a 7.2.

I'm not really sure what I want to start on next, I have some portable games I'm kind of working on here and there (Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth and Star Fox Assault), but I like to always have a console game going.  I'm thinking about playing through one or two "quick" games (aka not RPG) for the time being since the last few games I've played have all been RPG's.  I don't know, I guess I'll update again when I figure something out to play.

Good to day to all!

Casual Update

Just figured I'd give a bit of an update on my gaming life here.  I finished Radiata Stories awhile back and I must say it was one of the greatest RPG's I've ever played.  I thought everything about it was outstanding and I really liked the recruiting aspect of the game.  I wrote up a review about it, but I don't have a link so you'll have to just go to the Radiata player reviews section to find it if your interested.

After that I played some Gamecube Paper Mario (the thousand year door) and it is definitly an outstanding game as well.  However, it can be extremely frustrating at times.  After getting about halfway through where the difficulty makes a huge jump up I got fairly frustrated with it and decided to take a bit of a break from it.  It's not that it was to hard to handle, I just wasn't up for using lots of items and being frustrated about it.

Then I decided to give Suikoden V a shot since I had a friend tell me that he felt the Suikoden series was of better quality than the Final Fantasy series (which I had a hard time beleiving).  So I loaded it up and first thing I noticed is that the graphics were gorgeously done, however, the sound wasn't anything special and I really don't like the way the main character looks.  But I gave it a shot, in about 3 hours I got to do about 3 battles which were pretty cool, to bad I didn't get to do more, the rest of the time I was just running around talking/listening to people who were VERY BORING.  Yeah, I was sleeping while trying to play this one, maybe some other time.

So, I loaded up one more game before resorting back to something I already knew was good, that game....Grandia III.  Wow.  This game has been outstanding since moment one.  The battle system is just as amazing as I've read about, the characters are awesome, the graphics are gorgeous, the sound is solid.  I have no complaints as of now so hopefully things keep up this way.  I suppose I'll throw out another update sometime while playing it, or at least a review when  I get it finished.

That's all for now!  One week until school starts up again, gotta make the most of it!

Sadiata Rories

Figured I'd post something up just for kicks, I've been super busy rocking long game days lately with Radiata Stories.  Finished up work 2 weeks ago, went on a family vacation, and I got some down time before school starts again.  I couldn't be happier than to spend this time morning to night spending some quality game time.

So, Radiata Stories is a game I've attempted to play 3 times so far (the current play being the 3rd).  The last two times didn't work out because when you hit Theater Vancoor in the game the world just opens up to you and you gain time to do side missions and do lots and lots of recruiting.  There's so many recruitable people available and only at certain times in certain places and I just became so confused that no strategy guide or FAQ could save me.  But this time, something just happened and everything worked out.  I've got a sweet party and tons of recruits and whatnot.  I'm totally stoked about the game and if you haven't checked it out you definitly should.  It's got tons of stuff to do granted you can get past the confusability.

So yeah, thats what I've been up to and thats what I'll be up to for a few more days until the game comes to some sort of grand finish.  Rock.

Clerks anyone?

Just saw Clerks II tonight.  Definitly a fan of it, Kevin Smith has done it again.  I think as long as I live I'll be a fan of his work, Clerks II is just another to add to the collection.  Although, I'm pretty sure Mallrats is still my favorite with Chasing Amy running a close second.

Anyone else a fan of these movies?  Seen Clerks?

Still in the Old School Spirit

I decided that I'd start adding my old-school games to my Gamespot collection here just for kicks.  I never did it before because it seemed like it would take to much time, but I had some to waste so I started throwing them up.  So, I guess this is just a note if anyone cares to check it out.  I'm still not done, but I got bored with searching for these games for now so expect more in the near future.

Old School on the Go

Had a spur of the moment decision today to work up my old school handheld collection.  I really don't have a clue what I currently have right now because all my stuff is laying in a box somewhere from back when I played my original gameboy, but for my B-day I'm gonna pick up a GBA SP (since my DS nor Micro will play the old school games) so I can play some of these classics and I'm going to pick up some of the must have games as well.

Right now I'm looking in perticular at the Dragon Warrior games, Final Fantasy Legends, and probably the Zelda's from back then.  If anyone has any suggestions then let me know because I'm all for upping my collection.

Ramblesss

First thing, I'm back from the trip, it was mehhh, not sure if it was the trip or I just like the way things are done on this side of the ocean.  Either way I'm glad to be back and home gaming away.

Secondly, bad games month has been seen as a waste of time/money, so it will be changed to a 5 day week between a group of whoever can be found and games already owned will be played.  The week will be next week, don't know the dates, don't care.

Third, I am one game away from my ultimate DS collection of every game I feel is worthy for it.  Pretty stoked about that, just need to find the time to play them hah.  Also picked up a DS rumble pack which is pretty cool, to bad it doesn't work with more games yet though.

Rock.
