i seem a little dissapointed so far
the frame rate does not seem very good

but time will tell

i finnished resident evil 4 on monday
heres what i think

"emancipation through eviceration" (Mr Robert Florence)

yes children it is that good

capcom made this and its up to you to never let them forget,
yes it is that good, may every capcom game be blessed with the fruits of this labour

i was expecting the game on friday 18-march-2005
alas no
it arrived saturday 19-march-2005
i got out of bed bright and early at 1200 (my 1st weekend off work in got knows how long)
didnt bother to get changed
i went downstairs and started the journey
8-10 hours later i emerge, with a massive headache from starting at the tv for that long; and a sense of accomplishment
sunday 20-march-2005
i start playing at 1130 - and 6 hoUrs later (no food - no water) i again emerge with a headache, and an even greter urge to find out what happens next
but i had to go to church
i was glad to do this cos i was able to give thanks to god for not only dieing for our sins, but also for resident evil 4
i start up again at 1900
5hours later i emerge (but no headace)
i know i have to sleep, but i dont wanna
eventually i cave
next morning 1130-1830 i start... and finnish

I PITY THOS WHO WILL NEVER PLAY THIS GAME
I REALLY DO

IT TOOK ME 21.5 HOURS to complete i killed nearly 1000 bad dudes
and i liked every second of it

THE REVIEW

every change that capcom made is great
i was dubious at first, and sceptical that id like this new controll system
but i do
the old system was awkward (brilliantly awkward in the sense that you really do have limited mobility when being approached my a hoard of zombies), and i hope they will go back to the old system somewhere down the line
but i digress

the game has you playing leon s (scott) kenedy
hes on a mission for the president to rescue his daughter ashley (last sighted in a spanish village)
so he goes
and is met witha less than friendly atmosphere
not zombies, but local villagers
(later on we get more enemies in the form of monks, soldiers and the occasional camp, overdressed, overconfident, bad guy who loves telling his eevil plan and how horribly we're all gonna die)

the villagers are crazed
attacking him with pitchforks, scythes, knifes, mace's, and chainsaws

from here on leon has gotta fend off these fiends
find ashley and find out what the hell is goin on

i aint going to say any more about the plot cos i dont wanna give anything away
but one scene where villagers are breaking into your cabin in the middle of no where, and you and luis (smartass)

are fending them off
grenades left right and centre
heads flying

blood spraying
magic
pandemonium
genious

the game style its self does give more that a few nods to joh carpenters "the thing"
in a brilliant way
(from the thing) like near the start when the dog starts mutating and its spawning tentacles (just like in resi4) a shotgun shell or 3 should sort this

with previous games you would always love playing the game then getting to a lovely cutscene
this is not a case with resi4
the game feels like one big cutscene that you play through
(the game is graphically stunning - but i dont care about graphics cos im hardcore)
and when you do get to a nice wee bit of fmv, you canna rest cos at any second you might have to tap any of the buttons to avoid a boulder, a knife weilding commando, or a giant whale monster...

the bosses are as extravagent as ever, and usually quite tough

if you can get this game, then u better got it
it deserves to do well people, and i would be surprised if it didnt

by the way
im now playing the game for a 2nd time with all my upgraded weapons from the 1st time round

the fact of the matter is that i was sad enough to request the weekend off work, for the sole purpose of playing this game
for those who would call me sad i can only say that after completing this game, im proud to be labelled "sad"
