This is becoming a veteran thread. I held firm with PCWii last gen, and haven't changed much on that. Superior controls, graphics, and innovation. I can safely bet that whatever Nintendo does next will be opposite from the norm, and for me that's what it's all about. Fun and creativity.

Whatever PC or Nintendo does today, the rest will copy tomorrow. It's as simple as that.

edit- And as good as Horizon Zero Dawn is.. I'll be playing Mario Odyssee 10-20 yrs from now most likely.

Are there any high end 120hz monitors for us PC gamers? I realise most want $2-300 monitors but I mean really... I don't expect much out of those. I used a Sony 24" FW900 for years so image quality is most important to me. I'm currently using a 27" Asus LCD and while it's great.. could be better. It's only 60hz and the blacks just aren't black. I desire some sort of local dimmed LCD with a true 120hz. This would be the ticket if such exists in the 24-30" range. I don't care if it costs an arm and a leg.. I just want it!

The Kuro model is better than any crt. Any respected av enthusiast/ ISF calibrator will agree.

slarkyslark

I don't know if I'd go so far as to say that. I have a Kuro and while it easily bests any current flat panel.. it's no match next to my Sony 34XBR960 (both pro calibrated). Don't bother mentioning resolution, since that's not even close to what makes a picture good. The critical factors are black levels, color accuracy, depth, gamma, warmth, etc and resolution and overall sharpness falls below those. The Sony, while not destroys, owns the Kuro in these critical areas.

I've put several hundred hours on a Pio 500M, Samsung B8500, and Panny VT25 in a dark room to know better. All fantastic displays but.. sorry, isn't in the same league (yet) as the little trinitron from Sony.

edit --> Frankly.. I don't think there ever will be a home consumer (not professional) display to challenge the 34XBR960 for SHEER 2D DEPTH, which is extremely important. Black levels may (or may not) be matched in the next decade but I have my doubts. But for overall depth in a 2D picture I just don't see it happening. It's only until you get into the gimmick 3D tricks that current tvs have that give the illusion of having more depth. But it's just not natural. Sorry.

Right now I'm using the modem that time warner supplies with road runner (a cheap motorola one). I'm looking into getting a cable modem that will possibly offer better performance, no dropouts, and have ethernet connections.

It would be nice to have 4 gigabit ethernet ports on it, but doesn't have to. Should I go with something like this or should I get a router in addition to the modem? I don't want wireless. I have no desire for it. I'll be using my PC, 360, PS3, and a Windows Home Server. A fifth port wouldn't hurt either for future expansion. But please, no wireless. I want security and speed.

Any suggestions?

Also, I should have you know that I'm currently using a D-Link Gamers Lounge DGS-4300. This wireless router has 4 gigabit ports and has served me well thus far. Is there something really better than this or does what I have seem good enough? I suppose I may just need to get a better modem. The main thing I'm trying to do is to eliminate dropouts and more speed if possible. I am using Road Runner standard (not turbo).

Thanks.
