Men reading fashion magazines
Oh what a world it seems we live in
Straight men, oh what a world we live in
This is a quote from a song by Rufus Wainwright called "Oh What A World". I think it's a very interesting lyric. It's a great song too. It sounds like Radiohead doing a Broadway or Elton John song. Very good stuff. It's off the Want One album. Good stuff.
I've received my first official bill today. It's my car insurance. $78.35 a month. And that's because they charge me a $3 service charge. Why do they charge you a service charge when you're already giving them too much to begin with? I could take all the money I spend on car insurance and put it away (same with health insurance) and save so much money over my life. I could probably retire early. Think about it. Really think about it. Think about putting $78.35 away every month for forty years. That's $37,608. Which I realize is not a huge amount, but if you put it into an account with interest. And think that I only have basic insurance to cover another car if I get in a wreck. I think that would cover most any wreck you decide to get in. And think about how much money people spend a month on health insurance and unnecessary medical expenses. It's crazy the money wasted. No wonder insurance company people and doctors drive such nice cars to their four story houses.
Also, how many people do you know actually get into $37,000 worth of damage in cars in their lifetime? If they did you know they'll probably shell out at least $50,000 to $100,000 in insurance. Man, I wish I'd thought of that scam.
Oh, what a world we live in.
