To the OP: I really don't know what everyone else here is talking about, but I'm with you. I heard rumors from a post by a Rare employee on Rare's UK web site that Rare might be willing to get back with Nintendo to make a Donkey Kong Country 4, but I also heard that since Microsoft has a controlling share in Rare last I heard, that probably will never happen. I wouldn't put much stock in these rumors (especially since I can no longer find the web site I saw it on), but it would be very very nice if it could happen some day. Even if it were just 2D. Good to see another DK64 fan though; it was my very first console game and remains one of, if not my all time, favorite game ever made.

I have 73 games installed on my desktop at the moment...no kidding either, I could list them all but I'm too lazy to do so...
@ Senior_Kami: YESSS!!! Jet Force Gemini is such a great game, but I was unaware that a lot of people disliked it....I've always heard good things about it, but either way, you're absolutely right
However, the honor for my favorite game on the N64 goes to Donkey Kong 64. The game was just so delightfully cheesy and hilariously whimsical, I couldnt help but enjoy every second of it...and it was nice and long on top of that! Unlike so many games nowadays...pay $60, get a friggin' 2 days of gameplay...
Donkey Kong Country 1,2, AND 3
Super Star Wars
Super Return of the Jedi
Super Empire Strikes Back
Super Mario Kart
Mega Man X
Super Metroid
Super Mario World 1 and 2
Killer Instinct
My systems are N64 (19 games), SNES (6 games, just got it recently), and PC (59 games). I would have more in all of those categories, as well as more systems, if I had the money though...:(.
-Biting the NES controllers. There were tons of teeth marks and luckily I didn't need braces later in life.

Teeth marks on the controller...did you own a SNES at some point? If so, I think I have your old controller, lol...
If you do decide to get a retro console you probably would be best off with a SNES, simply because for classic RPG's and platformers, there is no better system out there IMO (possibly PS1 for RPG's, but that's debatable, depending on what kinds of RPG's you like). However, you said you were a stickler for graphics; even if you get a newer console with arcade or classic compilations, they most likely will not be graphically updated. In other words, they will look the same as on an older console, and the controllers for the new console may not work quite as well or as responsively with the game as the originals would. Sorry if I'm insulting your intelligence, I just thought I'd point it out, just in case.
BTW, I recently purchased an old SNES after playing a lot of the classic games on my PC (from unnamed sources:D ), and now I want to play all of them again. Nothing beats playing the game on the original machine, with the original controller, in all of its 16-bit glory :) . Good luck, and happy gaming!
