Im looking for a little advice from some folks who may have already purchased Fallout 3. This may seem like a silly question since this game has been getting such great reviews, however I typically dont enjoy RPG's. Im more of a fan of the FPS. I like action and dont enjoy spending the majority of my time solving puzzles, going from point A to point B to point C then back to point A searching for stuff and finding loot. I do like having the ability to upgrade my character and weapons but not so far as to make it the main purpose of the game I am playing. I realized FPS and RPG games are beginning to merge....I tried STALKER when it first was released and had a horrible experience. However most recently, I found alot of enjoyment in Bioshock and Dead Space.

Im typically someone who likes action packed FPS games... but do enjoy a bit of the RPG aspects thrown in with a good story to follow.

Whats your advise? Will I like Fallout 3 or will I hate it?

Carmageddon was one of my all time favorite games ever for the PC. I would love to see that game remade with the advancements in technology. Dont know if it will ever happen, however they are remaking the movie, "Deathrace 2000" which the game is based off of.

Its kinda tough to pick a single game with so many genres out there. Lets not forget some of the originals that led the way... if not for them, gaming would not be what it is today...

Platformer: Super Mario Bros.

FPS: Doom (wolfenstein led the way, but Doom opened up alot of gamers and developers eyes to the future of gaming)

Sandbox: GTA3

Im sure that Im showing my age here. Think of the huge influence these games had in their genre and how many games that simply copy their formula.

The PC has a whole lot more to offer than shooters, you know.Tiberius

I understand this. Shooters happen to be what I like to play. This is why I invited others to offer their list as I understand there are many other great games that have been released and other people have different opinions.

I have been a dedicated gamer on the PC for almost20 years. As the awards for 2007 games are coming to a close, I have began to think of all the games that have come out these last two decades and have made a list of my top 10 favorites. Ironically enough 1/2 of my favorites have been released just in the last five years. Im interested in what others may think and what their list may look like.... but here are my top ten personal favorites over the last two decades. (my list is in order of release and not necissarily in any other order)

1. DOOM (1993) This game kept me up late at night, and caused my grades to suffer in college. I also purchesed my very ownfirst pc for several thousand dollars just for this game as it ran horribly on my parents PC.

2. WING COMMANDER 3 (1994) Spectacular in flight graphics and a great story told through real video clips made you feel like you were part of something bigger than just a video game.

3. QUAKE (1996) Another awesome game by id, improved by leaps and bounds from Doom. I joined and later created my very first gaming clan to compete on line with this game.

4. HALF LIFE (1998) Another awesome game with some great game mechanics which pulled you into the story and created the feeling that you were the star in a movie.

5. MAX PAYNE (2001) Cheezy story + the invention of bullet time. Great fun.

6. DOOM 3 (2004) Scared the sh** out of me. As stupid as it sounds, I could not play this game for more than 2 hours straight without having to stop for a rest because it would stress me out so much. Awesome atmosphere, music, graphics and just fun to play. Like being the star of a horror movie.

7. FARCRY (2004) Another fantastic game for the year. Fantastic game mechanics and open gameplay for an FPS. The entire island seemed alive and gameplay options seemed limitless.

8. F.E.A.R. (2005) bullet time in an FPS, great story, great graphics, great atmosphere and pretty damn creepy. (although the expansion packs have much to be desired)

9. BIOSHOCK (2007) A story that sucked you in mixed with graphics and interesting atmosphere. Interesting gameplay mechanics also made this game that much more enjoyable. FPS meets the RPG.

10. CRYSIS (2007) I have never enjoyed a game as much as I have enjoyed Crysis. Shame on you Gamespot for not giving this game of the year award. In my opinion, this is the greatest game ever created for the PC.

So hey, these are my favorites and only my opinion. Please feel free to comment and even leave a list of your own. It will be interesting to see what others view as the greatest games ever for the PC.

For some reason I couldnt stop reading this thread... all 20 pages of it.... I couldnt stop laughing either. But seriously guys, My Dad works for Nintendo and I gotthe full version of Halo 5. It kicks serious butt and is cool and stuff. Master Chief grows a third arm from his head and now you can fire 3 weapons instead of just 2. There are also cool new vehicles like roller blades, but instead of weels, its a rocket pack for your boots. I give this game a 9/10. The only thing thats kinda frustrating is the camera angles are out of whack.

I also took a screenshot so everyone would believe me and see how cool I am. I think I'm going to use it as my signature, because its sooo cool. Sorry, I had to set the resolution down a little bit. Im going to go play some more Halo 5.
