In classic bs ps3 fashion, the manual says nothing about cross color filter, the sony site had bupkiss, and I had to google it. Says it helps w/ color "noise" when using an av (composite) or s-video cable. So i gather it shouldn't make any difference w/ an hdmi cable. IMO Sony has really embarassed itself and compromised its decent reputation w/ the ps3. Regardless of its "capabilities" it's the most user-unfriendly piece of hardware I've ever experienced. Ridiculous. The connectivity issues w/ routers is the stuff of lawsuits.

PS people are so funny. "Since WHEN did you forget that controller preference is almost entirely subjective"?? That's an easy way of saying "I'm fiercely loyal to Sony (for whatever reason), and I REFUSE to admit anything crappy about the PS3." This is not subjective. The PS3 has an archaic, anachronistic controller that for all intents and purposes has not changed in 15 years. Failing to improve it was plain lazy and moronic by Sony, qualties they obviously excel at. Which is why they're taking 1 of the all-time colossal baths on the PS3. Its layout sucks, and I find it actually ergonomically painful. Yes the 360 has obvious crap hardware issues, and MS will nickle-and-dime you to death. But it is still a superior system at this point, and no question it is more user friendly than the PS3, which isn't at all. And the 360 still has better games right now. I own both, and I only own the PS3 for the blu-ray really. And $400 for a machine that isn't backward compatible at all is a disgrace. If the hardware weren't so crap on the 360, for me it would be no contest. And why do PS owners take this all so personally? Why don't you marry it if you love it so much?

There are no 360 consoles available in store (at any type of store) w/in about a 200 mile radius from my home. That's crazy. The only thing i can think of is the consoles are such junk (mine's in for warranty repair right now), and there are so many R.O.D repairs that Microsoft has stopped distributing units. They're available online, and I'm wondering if this is merely outlets running down existing stocks. Anyone have any info on this?
