Score Predictions for 2012

Ahhh, E3 has dumbed-down and we are now prepping our wallets for the vast influx of games to be released in the coming months. Some will rise, some will fall. Who will do what? Here is my call. Rhyme not intentional.

(BTW, unless otherwise noted, take all games as X360 OR PS3)

The Amazing Spider-man:6.5/10, brings back the old Spidey formula, just doesn't hit the nail on the head with gameplay and graphics.

Sleeping Dogs:8/10, The transition of the game from Activision to Square Enix brought numerous bugs, but gameplay and a deep story make up for it. Low-class cutscenes.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS): 8.5/10: Still the lovable formula, but the introduction of coins can become tedious, as well as hopes to leave the 2D Mario landscape behind for a while.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2:6/10: Just can't do much at all, but Sniping is still a blast.

Far Cry 3:9/10: Sandbox editor and lack of bugs improve this game over it's predecessor.

Borderlands 2:9/10: Simply, improves everything over the original, but varies little in gameplay.

Fable: The Journey:4/10: Absolute rubbish... the dying cries of a once great franchise

Medal of Honor: Warfighter: 8/10:Multiplayer still doesn't knock of Call of Duty, but an improvement in Single Player

Assassins Creed III:9/10:New location, amazing graphics and an epic finale.

Halo 4:9/10:Story is still strong.. but 3 years isn't enough to take the franchise in a new direction.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II:8/10:Gameplay is still the same and a respectable leap into the future, but poor graphics make it seem rushed

Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two:7/10: What it can do on the Wii, it cannot on consoles.

Hitman: Absolution:9.5/10:From the sound to the graphics.. this game is simply sublime.

Paper Mario: Sticker Star:8/10:Gameplay and Presentation are amazing, but the 3D does little.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted: 9/10:Burnout Paradise 2 is what they wanted.. and, to some extent, what they got.

nb: these are all my opinions, some of these series I have only played a few times, take this all as a grain of salt.

Why I can't game as much in the New Year

Ah the essense of 2012. The final year of human existance. and also, coincidentally the biggest year of my life. Firstly, I will be beginning my final year of school.. ah the nerves. The worst thing about this is, well, my gaming habit will be drying up abit. Obviously studying will be taking up the majority of my attention this year, but you'd think I'd still leverage a bit of time to drop into a game of CoD or down a few quests in Skyrim? Well yeah, I will be able to do that.. but that's only because I already own those games.. which brings me to my second point, money.

I'm planning a huge trip around Europe with 2 friends at the end of the year, and well the total of it all will pretty much bar me from buying any games this year. I figured out that at a maximum I will be able to buy 1 maybe 2 games this year if I follow my budget to get my goal amount of money for the trip. Oh well, I did stock up in 2011 with alot of games that I am yet to finish ala: L.A. Noire, Battlefield 3, Resistance 3, Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood, Arkham Asylum, Arkham City and Bayonetta. Yep, thankfully for my backlog of games that I can feed my needs without purchasing any new games. I'm still questioning what games that I will be getting this year, but I do have an idea that it most certainly will be SSX and Borderlands 2, two games that I feel I can get alot of hours out of for the money that i'm paying.

Also, a goal that i'm setting for myself this year is to play more of my XBOX 360. I am a heavy Playstation-lover at heart. I started out Nintendo in my early days, but-cum-PS2 my days changed. However, my interest has grown in recent years so picking up a 360 for the benefits of Kinect saw me branch out into Microsoft for the first time. Kinect was not really what I was expecting, I really haven't gotten much out of my 360 yet even though I've had it since Christmas 2010, so hopefully I can knock off the few games (well, only 5) that I have on 360 this year and get my worth from Kinect. Another goal of mine, like many a gamer, is to knock off their stretched out backlog of games over the years, as forementioned above.

Anyway, this is my first blog and I doubt it'll be my last. I'll probably talk more about movies, travel and items of the news, as well as just a general update on things in the world. Thank You!
