Mainstream gaming.....awesome

I am loving that games are finally getting recognition as an art form. While in the unlikeliest of places, an assisted living facility, I overheard the familiar music from the Wii main menu. I had to look around to make sure I wasn't just hearing things and went back to what I was doing once I realized it wasn't just me. I wonder what the casual media will be when I am in one of those facilities decades from now? Hopefully I won't have to find out since health has a huge impact on our lives but I'm sure you get my point.

From console gaming to PC gaming

Those of you who know me know that I am a long haul truck driver. Since I am away from home so frigging much (can't really put it in nicer terms since I miss the family every day) and with space on my truck at a premium, I am having to move away from console gaming (which is the medium at home) to PC gaming with a laptop (a fairly self-explanatory move). This is all still relatively new to me and my laptop being bare-bones, I am even more limited than most other users. Moving on to a more accessible topic though, these are the type of games that I would love to have on my Ultimate Gaming Machine (hereafter abbreviated to UGM):

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Grand Theft Auto IV

Spore

Assassin's Creed

Civilization IV (which I am able to play on the truck now......good game)

Command and Conquer series

Fallout 3

Microsoft Flight Simulator X Deluxe (with decent graphics this would help me be less homesick......or possibly more homesick depending on my mood)

And there you have it! Hopefully I will one day be able to have a good rig (both in terms of computer and truck) to where I can socialize with the family more than just talking on the phone ie whooping the family at whatever game. Happy trails and happy gaming!

To register or not to register your consoles?

To register or not to register a game console after you have purchased it, that is the question. Well speaking from firsthand experience, even though an annoying process, in the end it could relieve you of a lot of stress. Coming from the former owner of a PS3 and a Wii who were both stolen, I can testify to the stress and annoyance and just pure frustration that comes from someone taking a material possession that was still part of your life. I paid well over $1,500 for all the items that I have listed in my collection and now I only happen to retain Resistance:Fall of Man and Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion in my physical collection. Now begins the task of rebuilding after disaster and havoc. I will keep all posted here and on my MySpace (www.myspace.com/wolverinesnightmare) as best I can. My first task: to get a job starting back from the bottom. Cue the dramatic music that always starts off the 80 hour adventure games!
