I was 6 or 7 at the time and my mom brought me to rent movies from some local video store. They had Final Fantasy II in a case at the register and I asked my mom for it. She said no :-(

but a few days later she brought it home for me, and after that I was hooked.

The problem was I never finished it before we returned it and when my birthday came around I couldn't remember what it was called. My dad brought me to Toys R Us and I ended up getting Final Fantasy MQ instead. I was disappointed but I enjoyed it anyway.

So for Christmas that year I was surprised with Final Fantasy III, which still wasn't what I was looking for but great none the less.

I didn't get to beat FFII until I was about 12.

Is there another Purple Flame Shield somewhere? I have two, know I got one from the dragon's stash but have no idea where the other came from. As for the spider boss, the thief's ring from the first level (youtube the roll to that area, it's a bit odd) and arrows and it's done. It almost feels like cheating. The first couple of times I tried to melee him, got pissed off, and left. Then I tried the ranged trick only to realize that his little seeking attack could still hit me on the left side if I wasn't wearing the thief's ring. After grabbing that, it went down ridiculously fast.DJ_Lae

I believe the red eyed knight drops it, but I don't know how often.

You don't even need to do that on the spider boss. The shield blocks 90% of fire damage and water veil reduces fire damage a great deal. He is probably the easiest boss in the game, second to leechmonger.

I believe it can play Psone games only... and honestly it should be the other way around since they are releasing PSone games via PSN... Thats why i hated to give up my original PS3 60GB which was fully backward compatible.

Prince_Denspion

The only reason that PSOne games work on all PS3s is because in order to run PSOne classics off the PSN network it require some sort of software emulation. So the backwards compatibility is only coincidental. If it weren't for PSOne classics I wouldn't be surprised if the newer PS3s had no backwards compatibility at all.

As for the PS2 backward compatibility. It's buggy at best, and with the $100 you saved from not getting a fat PS3 you should go buy a PS2 slim and get the better performance.

So, I've been reading alot about this "Demon's Souls" game and how "HARD" it is. Now, Having played tons of games, I've got to say one of the hardest I've come across is the Monster Hunter series. Actually, so far, its probably one of the few games that i can consider the hardest one I've ever played.
After playing monster hunter for a while though, you start to become really good and it just turns easy. It's all part of the learning curve, though Monster Hunters was pretty huge.

So what I'm leading too with all of this is, How does Demon's Souls compare. Is it Easier, About the same, or on a whole other level of hardness. :P

PoweredByHonda

Demon's Souls starts out hard because of the steep learning curve but once you get the hang of it the game is pretty easy. It's really about learning the patterns of your enemy and taking it slow.

Looking at a lot of bloodstains I notice many people die because they charge inrecklessly. When most enemies can kill you in 1-2 hits if you are not careful it's always best to take it slow until you know what you are doing.

So everyone knows this is an insanely hard game, but I've noticed you can get really **** over by meeting 2 criteria
1) Having no demon souls
2) Running out of moon grass
I've only completed one area so far (after many hours of play) and have reached the next boss (I'm doing the Amour Spider one). I know everyone dies a lot, but I've already had to go back once to the first area just collect souls, so I could then buy some moon grass after running out completely. Now I've run out AGAIN and will have to repeat the process before I can kill that **** spider...
Anybody else find they ever had to do this, or do I just suck? lol

Either way an awesome game

lardo_simon

An easy place to farm grass at lower level:

After you beat the 1-2 boss, start at that waypoint.

Head toward the two knights in the hallway before the boss.

If you have magic 1 or 2 spells will kill them before they even notice you.

If not then walk (don't run) up behind them and backstab them for an instant kill.

They always drop halfmoon or fullmoon grass, and you get an easy 1000 soul which at your level can be helpful.

Also take out the archers if you want for some crescent grass. Once you are done head back to nexus and start over. I do this with every character I start until I have about 100 crescent, half moon, and full moon grass which usually takes about 10-20 minutes and I have yet to run out.

----

If this is your first character I would recommend putting some points into magic. It makes the game almost laughably easy.

Use soul arrow until you can get Soul Ray (pierces through multiple enemies in a row).

Warding and Firestorm are also very helpful spells.

I would also get 2 slots in miracles and get second chance (revives you upon death)

---

Also getting the Purple Flame shield is easy. If you have pure white in world 1 the dragons won't appear on the cliff and you can grab all the treasure. Either that or you can kill the red dragon in world 1-2 if you us a bow or magic. Climb up to the first tower on the bridge and wait for the dragon to start its descent. If you have a bow you can aim and attack, with magic or a crossbow you either have to do it blindly (which is easy since he is so big), or target him as he comes towards you and cast or shoot quickly.

It'll take about 30 minutes and 200 arrows or bolts but the soul is worth it and so is the loot. Make sure you get the spear on the bridge as well.

The ability to transfer and play PS Classics onto your PSP and play it on the go is the only reason why I would repurchase games off the PS Store. I want Saga Frontier so bad. One of my favorite PS1 games of all time.

[QUOTE="pb1285n"]

[QUOTE="chembro84"] Look around you, are there any CD stores anymore? There used to be tons of them, now there are a couple small ones in the mall, and Target/WalMart, Tower Records is out of business, Warehouse, out of business. Yeah people still buy CDs but it will go away real soon. basically the sales have decreased enough to not support any nation-wide record stores any longer. My point about the iPod is that it shows that digital distribution is viable in the US. Look at this article http://music.guardian.co.uk/news/story/0,,1940513,00.html they are planning a 50% decline in 3 years, if that isn't a slaughter I don't know what is.chembro84

You've answered your own question. Target and Walmart are the cause of stores like Tower Record going out of business, not iTunes. Tower Record was expensive and had little to offer by the way of selection. Plus why would you want to make 5 or 6 stops while out shopping when it can all be done in the comfort of one store? Speciality stores are a thing of the passed. I don't think digital distribution will ever be the norm (if it does happen it won't be for a while) for at least 2 reasons.

1. It requires people to keep up with the technology and for most people this is not possible.

2. When people purchase a product they want something tangible to give it a feeling of worth. Data is not tangible.

I think MP3 player companies are playing us all for fools anyway not providing some sort of expandable memory slot. If they did this music companies could change over to a memory stick type format and not only could the consumer transfer music directly from the stick to the mp3 player they wouldn't even need a computer to do it. It would be so damn convienent I am amazed it hasn't be done already.

I'm a futurist, people tell me I'm wrong all the time, the only thing I'm wrong about usually is that it happens faster than I said it would. Digitial distribution will overtake physcial distribution there is absolutely no question about that, the only question is the time frame.

Wow someone is a little full of themself.

I disagree with you. Keeping up with evolving technology is too expensive for digital distribution to be the norm. Yes digital distribution will grow but it will not overtake the physical distribution of media.
