In our last blog post, pdRydia confessed to a devious plot; secretly, without telling anyone at all, she plans to turn her mother into a gamer! But how will she accomplish such a feat? We return to our story where we last left off, as Dia finds herself in a game store, faced with a shiny new Nintendo portable..
NB: After part one comes part two!
So there I was. Standing across from the shiny new DS Lite. It was shiny. It was new. It was reminiscent of dangerous lipstick and delicious pumpkin pie.
But for now, nevermind all that. Right now I want to tell you about something else that took place at some other time.
So. Some amount of time prior to this DS Lite examination, I had been browsing DS games--I am prone to do so, as I occasionally use my DS for playing games. While I was doing this thing--browsing games, that is--I saw a game I had not seen before: Magnetica. I was attracted to the bright, candy-colored cover art, so I picked it up to examine it in more detail. Turns out it's a game very much like a computer game my mom used to spend hours playing. You might or might not have heard of it, but that computer game is called Zuma.
"Huh," said I. I often speak aloud, to no one in particular, especially if I am going to write a blog entry about it in the future. "Portable Zuma? If only Mom had a DS, she could totally get a lot of use out of this."
So. Time passed. Now, I was standing across from this DS Lite. "Huh," said I. "If only Mom had Magnetica, she could totally get a lot of use out of this."
And then, since I am a genius, I devised a brilliant plan based on these two musings.
Can you guess?
Here it is: I decided to buy my mother both a DS and Magnetica!
It's a bit complex, so let me walk you throught the rationale. [1] Since Mom would have the DS, she would get tons of use out of Magnetica. [2] Since she had Magnetica, she would get tons of use out of the DS. [3] For further awesome, owning a DS would pave the way for me to send her new DS and GBA games--just to try out, of course. If she wanted to.
Mwa ha ha! Soon she would be one of us!
Ah! But a system and one game does not a gamer make. No, one game is never enough. Furthermore, as a new gamer, my mother would have no idea how to find new games she would like. Obviously the only humane and responsible thing to do would be to start her off with a couple games--maybe even more. The DS Lite and Magnetica were a go, but now it was time to pick out some more games.
To Be Continued!
