[QUOTE="Jaysonguy"][QUOTE="Master_Hermes"]That would be an excellent argument if what you said were true. Sadly, it is not. Metriod Prime 3 sold significantly less than Metriod Prime and it is games like that and Pikmin to which I am referring. Nintendo's more niche brands that sold relatively poor on GameCube and will sell even worse on Wii. Now, I never said that this was the sole reason for Nintendo's re-release of these particular GameCube games but it is a factor. The list of the wiimakes reads like a who's who of Nintendo's Gamecube flops and late-shows, DK Jungle Beat, Chibi-Robo, Mario Tennis, the Pikmins and Metriods. None of these were multi-million sellers (except MP1) and to many people who never owned GCs (and to some who did), these game are brand new. Nintendo is wise to make profit off this fact and boost the brand awareness of these franchises in the process.

Wrong
Mario Kart Gamecube 6.96
Mario Kart Wii 14.25
7.29 million increase
Mario Sunshine 6.28
Mario Galaxy 7.73
1.45 million increase
Smah Gamecube 7.08
Smash Wii 8.22
1.14 million increase
Paper Mario Gamecube 2.05
Paper Mario Wii 2.70
.65 million increase
So just those 4 titles are an increase of over 10.5 million sales. Sales that did not need to be "coaxed" with earlier software
Your Metriod argument is false as well
Metroid Prime sold 2.83 million over 6 years
Metriod Prime 2 LOST 1.54 million sales despite being released when there were more consoles in users hands. A paltry 1.29 million sold.
Metroid Prime 3's 1.5 million has already eclipsed Metroid Prime 2's sales in 3 fewer years but it's on it way to eclipse 1's as well. That's despite the fact it hasn't even been out for a year in all three regions.
The "niche software doesn't sell well and needs help"/sell poor on Wii argument is again false
First party niche games
Wii Fit = 15.18 million
Big Brain Academy = 3.44 million
Animal Crossing = 2.67 million
Warioware = 2.44 million
Wii Music = 2.33 million
5 niche titles with over 26 million sales
So what's selling poorly on the Wii? Because it sure isn't niche software
I'm beginning to think you're not well. Anyone who thinks Wii Fit, Animal Crossing or the brain training games (games deliberately targeted toward a very broad audience) are niche is not of stable mind. We are not talking about time-frames or any other nonsense, Metriod Prime 3 has not sold more than its predecessors. The Wii has more than twice the install base the Gamecube ever did, if brand awareness was not necessary Metriod Prime 3 should have sold much more than Prime 1 by now from the sheer fact that it is available to more people. You cite Mario games and Smash Bros as evidence that my theory is Incorrect but those games are not what I was talking about. All those games you mentioned are built solely or primarily off the Mario brand, a brand known to almost anyone who's ever heard of video games. I never stated that these remakes were absolutely necessary for its Wii sequels to do well but they will undoubtedly help. These are GameCube games that did not sell as well as Nintendo expected, games that will fair a better chance on Wii, increase brand awareness for the franchises to which they belong and make Nintendo a pile of easy money. I don't understand your problem with it.
Oh snap! How many of you had broken drum kits right out of the box. This includes major sensitivity issues or the kit just being screwed.
I know I did. I bought the Wii version of GHWT and found that the drums only responded for about ten seconds before they just didn't respond all together. I know its not normal because I exchanged it for a PS3 version (my friend wants to buy one so I used my Toys r' Us discount for him) which worked fine. It sucks because I had to repack two GHWT bundles.
Anyway, let's hear some of your stories.
And another thing. Nintendo is trying to make money. Going all out and making the best handheld they can won't make sense. They wouldn't gain as much money as they could if they just keep making minor imporvements. They save money on the porduction of the actual product but sell the same number of units. Does anyone get me cause I can't explain it well.
