I'm interested in reading more books based on various game universes, but it's difficult to find them via Amazon etc.

So far I'm aware of:-

- The Dragon Age Novels

- the HALO series

- the Rainbow six series

- Assassins Creed

- the forthcoming Elder Scrolls book "infernal city"

- The forthcoming Metro 2033 (English version)

Which other books based on games would you recommend?

I would rate is at about 7.5 as well. It's not in the same league as Half-life/Crysis but was fun in places.

The time shift was an interesting idea, but it was mainly limited to "Freeze". Reversing time and Fast forward had very few uses except when a specific puzzle required it.

I also thought it got easier as the game progressed, because the crossbow was an incredibly powerful weapon.

I think I'll get my friend started on Sims, Black and White, and Fallout1+2 (everyone should play Fallout) then try him with some adventure games. I'll leave the RTS games for just now, since the keyboards sometimes used to group units etc. (Maybe when his confidence + mouse skills grow.)

I'm going to checkout Hearts of Iron 2 doomsday, AudioSurf and Trackmania myself, they look really fun.

Apologies if I haven't mentioned your recommendation (there's too many to choose from), but I have put them on the "pending" list. I should be able to buy most of these games very cheaply on amazon/eBay, so I guarantee I'll get to it in the future.

My friend has a lot of time on his hands - if I can get him playing one of these great games, it would be no bad thing.

I have friend who suffered from a stroke a couple of years ago. He's just started using a computer, but since the stroke, he's only got mobility in his right hand.

I want to set him up with:-

a) a good game

b) one you can play with just a mouse

c) one thats easy to get into - as I said he's new to computers, and probably isn't interested in a massively heavy/weird story.

I've looked through my game collection, but I'm kind of struggling.....

Any sensible suggestions appreciated.

you might want to check out the VMware Workstation Beta. Its like VMware Server, but allows you to do much more with your Virtual Machines.

It supposedly works with 32bit and 64 bit windows.

Bear in mind that although the beta is free, the finished product will cost ... umm $100 or so. The Beta product will also expire after a month or so.

Have you thought about switching to VMware's virtual products? I don't want to get into a whole FanBoy argument, but I've always found them fast, and easy to use. VMware Server is also free. Sun's VirtualBox is also highly rated.
