OMWii U, this got to be the most underwhelming introduction of a new console ever. What does the Wii U offer, why are people going to pay good money to buy it. Graphic wise it is on par with the 6-7 year old consoles on the market today. Gaming wise the motion controller fade is over and that screen/controller thing does not look comfortable at all for a long gaming session. I does not seem like developers are taking Nintendo seriously any more. You bet when Sony and Msft introduce their next gen; probably next E3; developers will show brand new IPs and stunning new graphics. I have all three consoles and a gaming PC. The least I?ve played and least games bought for a system is by far the Wii. I have the two Mario galaxy and the two Zeldas., that is it? the Wii U will probably be the first Nintendo console I will not buy since the NES. I think if Nintendo should focus on making games only and get out of the hardware side. Their games will sell like fire on any console and any platform home or mobile and without the crazy investment needed to launch a new console.

I hate Steam
by pharomarc on Comments
I use to always opt for the PC version of games (I own360,PS3,wii) but now games which uses Steam you can't sell, so I'll either pick the console version…or People can just open a new steam account for every game and just sell the game after they are done and give their email account and password they have used. Steam claim that it provided value to their customers, I think they are only talking about the game developers and not the gamers. Seriously why can you resell every other game you "OWN" except the ones that use Steam. Gamers should start to take notice and talk about it or nothing is going to change. It is your game sell it when you want to.
Note to RockStar: GTA V Wish

Please make GTA fun again. Although GTAIV was a great game in its own right it was not as fun as the previous installments in the series; especially the driving (I really hated the driving; felt like cars had no traction or roads where covered in oil). GTAIV was like a fine stake you eat with fork and knife in a white tablecloth restaurant but other GTA's are like an awesome BBQ baby back ribs messy fun eat with your hands wearing a bib kind of games. Now I'm craving some ribs :P also when you release the game 1 year late for PCs please try to at least make sure it can work in a human way for the second class gamers still playing on PCs.
Expensive Late Ports To PC c.i.p Assassin Creed 2
by pharomarc on Comments
PC games are suppose to be around 10 bucks cheaper because the publishers are not paying the royalty fee to MS and/or Sony. Although, there is no question that pirated versions of games are much easier to get and use on PCs, that is not to say there is no piracy on console, it is just easier on PCs. regardless it is still weird to me how developers expect games to sell well on PCs despite being over priced, months late, and probably full of bugs and not optimized for PC. I actually believe publishers are caught in the hype resounding consoles, and forgetting a significant portion of their demographics; PC gamers. Another point, there is no way to tell how many of the people that pirate the games would have bought it if they could not pirate it. I suspect that even if companies were able to put a stop to piracy it may not translate into significantly higher sales. On the other hand, if they spend the extra money on marketing and optimizing games for PC's they would definitely see more sales. PC gamers are the gourmet of gamers we spent a lot of money on our systems and are generally older meaning we actually buy our games using hard earned cash and not allowance or Santa Clause (parents, grand parents etc...) meaning we more frequently research the game before making a purchase this results in fewer purchases of average and mediocre games.
Disclaimer: I own all consoles currently in the market right now and I enjoy a good game on any platform, however given the choice I would play all games on my PC except party/music games a la Wii
SecuROM Works....for whom
by pharomarc on Comments
SecuROM definitely works...... to annoy the hell out of lawful owners of the game, but as a deterrent, well the honor for the top spots on the most pirated games went to games using SecuROM.
Shareholder should demand an explanation for the useless added cost of using SecuROM. This is in addition to the potential cla$$ action lawsuits, God knows how much that would cost them, both in terms of cold hard cash and in public image area.
One question that always pop into my head when I hear about games piracy, how many of these pirates would have actually bought a new copy of the game or basically how many of the pirated copies would have translated into actual sales if there was no piracy?
PC Gaming and Ports
by pharomarc on Comments
You hear that PC gaming is dead and all, and that sales for games on console is overshadowing PC game sales, as if they are blaming PC gamers for the publishers' miss steps. Companies throw in our faces poorly optimized, buggy, months or even years behind the initial release and then they except us to just go, buy and enjoy these games. Just look at the problem with RockStar's recent ports, Bully and GTA4, both are awesome games really enjoyed them on console, but I was always waiting for the PC versions for better graphics and controls, then they release these bug fests and call them games.
This is besides the retarded security majors they implement. I understand the huge piracy problem which is rampant in the PC gaming world, but really are these measures helping in stopping piracy, seriously. Is the piracy in PC gaming really a larger problem than in the movies and songs industry, or is just an excuse for poor execution.
Delayed reviews
by pharomarc on Comments
I have noticed that pretty much semi to highly anticipated games; especially from big name publisher; which will get less than stellar reviews, get their reviews posted with a few days delay. I have noticed this since the incident leading to the great reviewer's exodus from GameSpot. So now if I am looking for a game's review and it gets delayed, I get the confirmation that it will pretty much suck. Example Mercenaries 2 (I would say it was an anticipated game) review was delayed 4 days after release, score 5/10. Alone in the dark, review delayed 3 days score 6.5/10. The new Sonic: Dark Brotherhood, I was waiting to see what will Bioware; my all time favorite RPG dev; will come up with. Looking at other reviews IGN 6.5/10 Gamespy 7/10 so not the greatest numbers. Sonic came out September 30, and 9 days later no review yet. On the other hand games like GTA 4 the review was release the same day of game release, even a day before the day of release according to the date of the review, GTA4 got a perfect 10/10. Crysis reviewed same day of release score 9.5/10. Delaying the reviews for anticipated game with so so scores only serve purpose of making us; their loyal readers; who have been waiting to get our hands on these games to take the plunge, and fork the 30 or 50 bucks blindly on an undeserving game. This defeats the whole purpose of a review site, as if they are the only source of information on the web.
