I would rate it higher then borderlands definitly.. i for one despised borderlands for the same reasons as you. I loved the gameplay but the quest i thought had no thought put into it and no creativity what's so ever. Dragon age on the other side is a diffrent story. its something diffrent through every playthrough,quest, etc. Anyway dragon age is a definitly must buy. if you liked KOTOR then you will definilty like dragon age.
Assassin's Creed 2: Probably much better than part 1. Without a doubt will be a good purchase. Probably will be really fun throughout the whole experience. But how long is it? How much replay value?
Dragon Age Origins: Not my cup of tea but hey, it's a really long RPG. Are you into that Tolkien stuff? Do you really like long RPGs? You might get a lot of value out of it the first time, but how long will you grind with the game? Will you play it again?
Left 4 Dead 2: Similar to the first one... did you like the first one? Do you have access to XBL? Do you enjoy very challenging maps even if you have to play it multiple times over to finish it on the hardest setting? It's short but the gameplay lays in the tremendous replay-value and co-op experience.
+ the games story is one of those story's that keep you on the edge of your seat - the games graphics could have been better + the gameplay never has dissapointed me and others so far + the game has unlimited possibilites - voice acting ( just my opinion though) + the game is made by bioware ( no one could ever top that company )
