I like Metal Gear, but my vote for story goes to Mass Effect. Metal Gear Story is just so.. hajpajed and non-sensic. But then again, I'm not playing it for the story. And I can't say I've ever heard someone say that was the main reason they played it eitherr . Oh and about the 8.5 comment..... PLay the game and then tell me it's an 8.5.
I like each one for different reasons, and they both have their strengths. Those two being COD4 and Halo 3. Gears though.... What does it bring to the table. Why would it be best mp game on 360? I dont see alot.
I dont know if these scores really affect sales that much. I mean think about it, the people who payattention to these sites are ones that are well informed and already know what they want. Games are sold by word of mouth, not be review scores. And as far as this A thing goes.. I dont need some media guy to tell me the games I want to buy nor should I. And those A titles are something marketers use. Think about it, ever heard someone say this game is "AA"?
And for the same reason Mass Effect got an 8.5, it's the guys personal oppinion. Coincidentally the same guy reveiwed both games, just a bone to throw out. But stil, his own opinion.
This is why I'm so dissapointed with the rating that Gamespot gave to this game. This is like the second or third thread I've seen on this. That all being said, 8.5 is still a pretty good score and I see why they gave it that but I disagree with them. If you check around the web you will see that this score is actually on the low end of the spectrum. The average I've seen from 33 sources is 9.1 or 9.2 something like that, it is above a nine though. Not to say Mass Effect doesn't have it's flaws: Intentory, Technical Issues, and Squad AI is so so, but despite all of those and I'm sure there are other complaints that can be made, but this game still holds a solid 9 because this game is that great. So definately a buy.
Yah there will be downloadable content in some form, in the form of a filler. I wonder if they will add planets or use existing ones. And as far as Earth.... maybe but they prob would say that one for later.
The game sure has some technical issues, but even with them this is a game of the year nominee for sure. And I think that says something to the strengths of this game. If your an rpg fan, you buy this game. Period! End of Story! There's not gonna be alot of places to not give this RPG of the Year award.
