The A Team

Another night at the theater! This time I went to see The A Team. Actually I was surprised by it in a good way. When I first saw the trailer I thought: "oh they seem to have good action and nice liners." But I was still skeptical because one of the actors in the movie. I don't think he's a bad actor, but for me he was associated too much to romantic comedy that I doubted. But he was good and the character was one of my favorite of the movie in the end. It was really funny, everybody in the room laughed the entire time of the movie. The actors were good. The action is nice. Humor is a really big part of that movie so if you're looking something to make you laugh after a bad day it's the movie to see.

Some soldiers went on a mission to get back plates (for printing money). But they were framed and end up in jail. Now they are looking for revenge and want to clear their name. I don't know how close the TV show it is I sadly never saw it. But I really enjoyed it. 8/10

The Karate Kid

I'm just back from theater. I went to see Karate Kid. The first thing you need to know if you wonder if you want to go or not is that it's more a remake than a new original movie.

A kid (Will Smith's boy) is moving to Beijing after his dad died, because his mother has a job opportunity there. But being a foreigner he has a lot of trouble with the kids from Beijing and keeps getting beating by them. So a Man (Jackie Chan) will come to his rescue and teach him kung fu.

The visual is really attractive with nice view of China. The action scenes are nice too. You do get attached to the main characters and totally hate the little bully and his teacher. So over all it's a good movie. It's really entertaining but it's more of a remake so know before you go that you'll have a feel of déjà-vu. 8/10

Prince of Persia Sands of Time

Prince of Persia Sands Of Time Poster

Wow, it one of the rare films based on a movie I can say I'm not disappointed in. The feel of the movie is similar to the game, all the crazy stunts, walking on wall, jumping from roof, nice slow motions. The story was made for the movie, so it's not trying to adapt a game's story on the screen so there isn't the bad side for trying to fit an existing story in a new media. But the story they created fit the atmosphere of the games, so if you like the game you will still like the movie.

Ok you might say royal family being caught in some kind of conspiracy and murder isn't something amazingly original, but who care we always love those stories. It's always a good excuse for epic action, romance, strong bound, to feel injustice and anger.

The movie has nice visual, all this sun, sand, medieval age and Middle-Asia kind of building, it takes you somewhere else and we always like to leave a little while fromeveryday life for some fantasy world. 9/10

Other movies I saw lately

How to train your dragon.

How to train your dragon is a movie for all the family. It's really really funny and touching. The character and nice with cute dragon looking like cats and dogs. The 3D is pretty and the story is interesting. It enters in my list of favorite 3D movies. The movie takes place in a little Viking village, where all people are dragon killers. But one of the teenagers of the village wanting to prove everyone he can kill a dragon will make an unexpected friend. 9.5/10

Kick Ass

If a teenagers' movie and a Super Heroes' movie could make a child you would get Kick Ass. In this movie a teenager with no super power at all feels like he should do something of his life and wonder why nobody tried to be a super hero for real. So he decides to become one. So whit not much money, or any super power he decide to create a super hero called kick ass. So you can picture a pretty lame Hero and that's what he is. It's a teenage movie and it's not a serious heroes' movie, but it was really funny and nice. I think the movie might be more interesting for people between 12 and 25, but if you're looking for a movie to see with your teenager it might be a good pic. 8/10

Some of the movies I saw lately

Robin Hood:

It is an epic movie. It's not quite a Robin Hood tale, stealing from the rich giving to the poor. It's more the origin of Robin Hood, what brought him to become the man from the tale. The tale let us know how he met is friends. France is a threat to England and Robin Hood is helping the king to push the enemy back home. But as we already know that he needs to become Robin Hood we can guess that he will be betrayed by the end. The movie is more an epic war like movie like we saw in the previous years. But it makes the movie interesting because it's a different tale of Robin Hood we heard. We always get the thief from the wood, but this isn't it. It was humoristic and touching at the same time. Nothing really new from all the epic movie we had but it's a nice one. 8/10

Iron Man:

A new chapter to the movie, if you liked the first one you'll like it if you hate the first one you won't like it. We still have the arrogance of Iron Man, a powerful enemy to fight, a lot of women, and excess. This time the enemy is in link with the man who saved Iron Man in the first movie. So he knows about the technology that permits him to live which will make him a powerful enemy. Ironman will also discover that there is some down side to his condition. If you saw the first one than you already know what kind of movie you'll get. 9/10

Alice in Wonderland:

This time Alice is all grown up and return to Wonderland. But she doesn't remember going there in the first time so she thinks she's dreaming. As always I love Johnny Depp and Tim Burton. So people said it was far from being the best one of Johnny. In my opinion it was a really good one. I think his style suits Alice in Wonderland, and I think the idea was good without making a gothic version of the Disney one. It is a general movie, so don't expect an all grown up version of Alice. But it gave me the same creep that Alice use too when I was a kid. I like most of the characters. Some people around me complain that they are sick of the CG. I think costume and muppets aren't as credible now (depending of what you want to do). For people that are tire of all the movie being in 3D than see it in 2D and stop cussing about it. We used to complain that all the 3D movies where boring documentary when we were younger! 8.5/10

The Princess and the Frog

You love Disney? Than see this movie. You love music? Than see this movie. You like New-Orleans? Than see this movie. You love princesses and princes story? Than see this movie. You like to revisit your old fairy tales? Than see this movie.

This movie revisits the old tale we all hear when we were young, "The princess and the frog". But this time the pretty princess won't turn the frog into a prince, but the frog will turn her into a frog. The music is great as it should be expected from a movie taking place in New-Orleans. I really enjoyed hear that story again and probably will you. 9/10

Twilight temptation and Twilight New Moon

Well, I never knew about the book before the first movie came out. So when it came out I was all happy I was thinking finally a vampire movie. I love them but then I watch the trailer and I was a bit disappointed, it was a love story. I mean love is often part of a vampire movie, but I didn't expect it to be a romance as I never read the book.

So I never went to see it while it was in theater. Than twilight new moon came out. I went to the theater the day it came out to see another movie. And I was scared because I never saw as many giggling teenager girl in a theater. So it kind of turned me off even more.

Anyway a month or two ago I went to theater with a classmate. And he was shocked to learn I didn't see it so last week he lent it to me. So I took time to watch it. Well I love to see new movie, I can't say no to see a free one just because I have premade thoughts about it.

The verdict is: It's a really good love movie and a fair vampire movie.

Twilight a love movie

Twilight reuse the concept of a mortal human and immortal vampire falling in love. People might **** about making a love story out of a vampire concept. But in the movie it didn't bugged me much. I mean each vampire movie as its love story. You think about Anne Rice, all her book is about love and attraction between vampires, or vampires and human. Lestate, Louis, Claudia, Arthur, Pandora, Marcus etc… You think about Underworld, it's again a story of love, human/vampire, and vampire/werewolf. So for me the love story is fine and I have nothing to **** about. It's a cute one, including the difficulty of time, aging, taking life from somebody.

Twilight a vampire movie:

Over all it makes me think about white wolf universe even more with Twilight New Moon. If you take away the glittering part, you have pretty well the description of a vampire in White Wolf universe. The white cold skin, the celerity, the physical power and the varied special power like reading mind, inflicting pain… Being about to walk in the sun isn't something completely new ether you can read book and watch movie or TV show that make it possible. But they are flew the sun for a reason. The glittering part isn't completely new either, even if it bothers a lot of people. I think it's the first time it's that literally glittering but… we often read they are so white they nearly glow in the light. Yeah going to high school even if you're an immortal vampire sounds quite funny. But it's not the first time than vampire lives like human trying to avoid detection. So them looking like young people and going to school make a bit of sense if they want to stay in one place. But yeah that part is semi bugging me too. They look much like vampire to a point they look quite sick or weird. But we do have weird people who like to look like vampire. So maybe we would not think they are vampire just some vampire freaks or albinos people. And yeah it bug me that all the weird monsters are living in the same small little town… but I guess Forks is the new Transylvania.

It is a love movie first of all but you do have a bit of action scene. Limited but still there, so now that I see it I won't **** it anymore.

Julie and Julia

Here's a movie not to watch if you're hungry. Don't say I didn't warn you. It's the story of two women, Julie and Julia. Both are women who were looking for a goal in life and both were "saved" by cooking. One was in Paris and love French cuisine. So she decides to learn how to cook and eventually she will write a cooking book for American women filled with French cuisine recipes. The other is a women in the 30s crises. She works at a place she hates and ends up doing a blog on Julia recipe book.

It's a romantic king of movie but it's not a love movie. It a movie about people wanting changes in their life and looking for a goal. It's a nice movie to watch with your female friends or with people who loves food. 7.5/10

Shutter Island

Shutter Island wasn't exactly what I expected it to be. I thought it would be a bit more suspense or scary movie like. But it's more like a police kind of movie with investigation and all. It was good but I saw the ending coming in the middle and I thought it was the easy ending. Still I didn't see the story around the ending coming.

The movie takes place in a psychiatrist hospital isolate on an island (so you could figure that I thought it would be a scarier movie, think about movie like Goticka, or the fact that they are locked on an island give that feelings too but it's not what it is). A police officer goes on the island to investigate about a missing dangerous patient, but he will discover something bigger behind that. 8/10
