At the beginning of October, I was looking for things to do to celebrate the Halloween season. I was too shy to ask people I knew if they wanted to create a haunted house for trick-or-treaters, so I looked online to see if there were any volunteer opportunities for Halloween events in my city. After a lengthy search, I found a posting saying that volunteers were needed to help out waitresses at a retirement home during a dinner-and-a-show Halloween event, which is being held this Friday.
After e-mailing the person in charge of volunteers, she asked me to a 15 minute phone interview for this Thursday afternoon or the next Friday morning. I e-mailed her back with a suggested time and am now awaiting her response.
Does anyone have any tips or advice? Should I not be too worried about if she wants to talk so shortly before the event? I was wondering if it’s a good idea to mention that one of the reasons I want to volunteer for this is to be around other people celebrating the Halloween season. Does it make it seem like I won’t take the work very seriously?
