Must finish games!!
by pistolera on Comments
I've been wanting to buy Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions since it came out, but I won't allow myself to get it until I finish Jeanne D'Arc. I know that if I buy FFT I'll start playing it and Jeanne D'Arc will be put aside and likely not finished even though I'm really enjoying it. I seem to never finish games anymore. The last game I finished was Tomb Raider Legends and before that I don't remember. The last Final Fantasy I finished was IX. FFX and FFX-2 I played till close to the very end but didn't finish, same with so many others. Even Suikoden III, my favourite game, I haven't finished.
Ah well, there are just so many great games to play, perhaps one day...
This is going to be fantastic.

Fall Anime Season
by pistolera on Comments
So the fall anime season is here and so far I've checked out Clannad, Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and Dragonaut the Resonance. Here's some first impressions.
Clannad
Synopsis Tomoya Okazaki is a third year student labelled as a delinquent. Everything seems to be unchanging for his school life until he meets Nagisa, and Tomoya finds that his life is about to change. He starts to have dreams of a bleak world and meets a girl who has the ability to fuse junk together in order to create things, and doing so, creates a body out of junk for him. He is then reborn into this empty world and follows around the girl, the only two existences who are "alive".
Impressions This is based on a dating sim. So far there isn't much plot (nothing from the above synopsis is mentioned), it seems like a romance/ slice of life series. I really enjoyed this first episode. There are some good characters and a few standout moments. I'm looking forward to the next episode.
Mobile Suit Gundam 00
Synopsis It is the year A.D. 2307. Fossil fuels on Earth have been depleted entirely, with mankind turning to the next available power source: solar energy. During this time, 3 orbital elevators with solar power generation systems are built, each under control by the Union (formerly United States of America), the Human Reformist Alliance (Russia, China and India) and the AEU (Europe). However, not all countries are able to enjoy the benefits of this system, leading to widespread resentment and war. Arising out of the conflict, a mysterious non-profit military organization known as Celestial Being appears, dedicated to end all warfare using Mobile Suits called Gundam. This begins the stories of Gundam Meisters (pilots) Setsuna F. Seiei, Lockon Stratos, Allelujah Haptism and Tiera Erde as they are thrown into conflict between the 3 superpowers and the other various factions.
Impressions I am one of a few anime fans who hasn't watched any Gundam. There are so many different series that I never knew where to begin. Gundam 00 is a brand new story so I thought I'd give it a shot. I've read a lot of comments that this doesn't have the gundam feel. It's a nice looking episode, good designs and animation, but there was too much crammed into an episode. I'd like to be introduced to the characters a bit more. Anyway, I'm definitely going to watch more episodes. I love sci fi so I'm hoping this turns out to be a good series.
Dragonaut
SynopsisTwenty years prior to the story's beginning, an asteroid headed for Earth destroys Pluto. Due to Pluto's destruction, the asteroid, which is dubbed Thanatos, becomes temporarily stagnant. Now, in order to avoid Earth's impending destruction, the International Solarsystem Development Agency (ISDA) works on the "D-Project", and creates the "Dragonaut" after finding a dragon egg under the ocean. This weapon's primary purpose is to destroy the asteroid when the time comes. However, they soon find out that the asteroid is not their only threat, as powerful dragon-like creatures, which are bent on destruction, appear on Earth.
After witnessing a murder by one of the creatures, Jin Kamishina, a lonely 18-year-old boy who lost his family in a shuttle accident two years ago, gets involved in the mysteries of the dragons and becomes the chosen pilot of the Dragonaut. Helping him on his journey is Toa, a mysterious girl who saves him from falling to his death after the creature attacks him. As they get deeper into the mysteries of the dragons, they encounter new friends and enemies, and also begin to develop a closer relationship.
Impressions There wasn't much that grabbed me in this episode but it is a sci fi ish show so I'll give it a couple more episodes. There could be potential.
