I just want to say for my first post that I love TV. I've always loved TV. And for most of my life I've felt guilty about my love for TV. People always say TV is bad for you, it's mindless, you're lazy when you watch TV, you're not using your brain, it's antiproductive, it's a waste of time... Well, in actuality, it could be those things, but it all depends on your interaction with television. My interaction is quite active as it is for most people. The beauty of TV is that you can make it whatever you want it to be: you can actively engage with it, or you can turn it on as background, or you can use it passively as something to relax to-- it can be any and all of these things. Television is communication. You can learn so much from television and the information comes at you in different forms combined: visual and auditory- you can connect what you hear with what you see with what you had previously known with what you are now learning. I believe television is one of the greatest forms of media. Yes it can be dangerous if used improperly, if engaged with blindly, but if you develop the ability to intelligently engage with television it can be one of your greatest tools and pleasures.
