My philosophy is to only buy new games near release day that have an active multiplayer community. I wait on single player games for the price to come down. For example, I finally just played Mass Effect (the 1st one) about 2 months ago. I got the game for $10.00. It was just as exciting to as if I had bought it near it's release date, but I paid $50.00 less for it. For Mass Effect 2, I'll probably pick it up sometime in 2011 when it's around $20.00. I did buy BFBC2 about a month after release because I was looking forward to the multiplayer. Got it while it was Amazon's Deal of the Day. Limited Edition for $39.99 and free shipping.

Games I will definately be buying that are being released this year: Red Dead Redemption, Metro 2033, Mass Effect 2 and Brink. There may be some more, but nothing that strikes me at this time. The rest can wait. I have a fairly large backlog to finish anyway.

Although some people couldn't stand it, I say Dark Sector. Solid Third Person Shooter. I guess I would be mad if I paid full retail for it, but I picked it up for $6.00 brand new from Newegg and it was worth every penny. Section 8- Campaign mode is lame but Multiplayer is great. Great game that never got the publicity it deserved. The Bourne Conspiracy is another solid game. Very linear but interesting hand to hand combat and shooting.

Regretted picking up The Club, got it in a trade for Earth Defense Force (another turd). It's the same thing round after round, gets very boring very quickly. Add me to the list of MW2 haters, played through single player and spec ops. Played a couple weeks of MP and it's been collecting dust since. Someone wants to buy it from me so I'll get some of my money back. Crackdown-should've known I'd hate it as I can't stand Grand Theft Auto type games. Played a half hour of it and quickly put it up on my trade list.

Dark Sector is a great game, especially when you can get it on clearance or used for less than $10.00, also The Bourne Conspiracy was not bad, sort of linear, but good fighting and shooting. The most underrated game I've played recently was Sector 8. The single player blows, but the multiplayer is amazing. Reminds me of Tribes for PS2 mixed with some Halo type action.

I don't couldn't understand how people kept saying their XBOX's were cracking and scratching discs, until I found out that people are placing them vertically instaed of laying the machine flat. Is your XBOX vertical or horizontal?

chefstubbies

Vertical console, horizontal console...what do either have to do with the game case causing disc cracking TP addressed?

In this case, I misread what the OP said. I see now that he was referring specifically to the issue of the game case. I originally interpreted it to mean that he takes care of his games by making sure they were in the cases when not in use. I've seen numerous complaints of people who keep their XBOX's vertical who have problems when the disc slips out and the cd ends up cracked/scratched.

It's a toss up for me. BFBC2, Metro 2033, and I can't remember, but I think Red Dead Redemption comes out in March also.

I personally thought Section 8 was pretty solid :/

Section 8 was a great game. It's too bad it didn't get the press that some other games got. Great multiplayer. Reminded a little of Tribes for the PS2.

My choice for worst game is Earth Defense Force 2017. Graphics and gameplay of a 16 bit system, not something that should have been produced on the 360. Scripted responses are typical Japanese crappy syntax.

I get annoyed by it. I would rather seen 5 DLC's put into a sequel game than trickled out, but that's just myself. Apparently most people don't have the patience to wait for a sequel. I also can't store much of it as I only have a 20 gig hard drive and I don't want to go buy a larger one right now.
