From what I've witnessed over the decades, whoever is in first place is usually a greedy SOB because they can be, and whoever is in last place is usually friendly with way more options & cheaper prices because they have to be. Even Nintendo dropped their prices way down with the Gamecube -- something you're not seeing with the Switch.

It has nothing to do with any particular company.

@SolidGame_basic: I owned the NES and N64 and my best friend's brother owned the SNES. We rented games on the NES and SNES like crazy -- it wasn't until the N64 that I actually owned some games. I played Mario 64 at the demo booth in Walmart and was really blown away, didn't know what to make of it because it was so different. I didn't know much about franchises until years later: we loved A Link To The Past, but didn't fully connect that with Ocarina of Time for example.

After that point it was mostly marketing, reviews and word of mouth (online). Seeing all those cool trailers for GTA3 on TV got me to pick up the PS2 just for that game.

@zerothehero: Games that sell well usually don't drop in price in its first year. Like someone else mentioned, it released in February of this year.

I've had it wishlisted since release and don't expect a decent drop until next year or even later. If it does drop for the winter sale, it'll be $7 at most. Red Dead 2 didn't drop to 50% until 3 years after it came out.

It's already been out for 5 1/2 years so I wouldn't expect anything massive that hasn't already been announced. Maybe if you're looking forward to the rumored Zelda & Metroid remasters or ports.

Every time I play Half Life it is still amazing. Just played it last year (not Black Mesa) and it was awesome.

When I played it for the first time, it was already out for some years and even then I thought it would be out-dated. But it was still mind-blowing.

Alan Wake 2 isn't even fair because it's literally a game about a story

Wouldn't mind playing Twilight Princess again. Last & only time was on the Wii.

Wasn't a fan of Wind Waker but not because of the graphics.

Metroid Prime remaster would be awesome. Adored the first game.

Starfield for sure. It's been a long time since an open world singleplayer Bethesda RPG was released and this is a brand new IP.

Otherwise Final Fantasy XVI is up there.
