I had kind of zeroed in on the Asus Rampage Extreme II and the core i7 for the new rig, I havent really looked at the AMD options available, but as arya24 said the AMDs would offer a much better cost to performance value, I'd better get cracking...

@broken_bass_bin - Whew! thats a relief..
@arya24 - I dont think my current motherboard supports the 955 BE (would be awesome if it did) Sadly I can't go crossfire since the board only supports SLI.
So the TX750 would not be powerful enough to power a Core i7 processor and mobo, with the GTX 260 SLIed?? Hmm that makes me rethink the power supply, would the Corsair TX 1000 be ok, heheh costs a bomb.
Hi All,
I assembled this rig more than 2 years ago and I'm due for an upgrade,
I currently have a Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe motherboard and an AMD X2 4200+ processor, running a 7600GT Fatality Edition 256 MB DDR3 Ram graphics card which was mid-level in those times....
I plan on upgrading slowly and (if such a thing exists) futureproofing my rig for some time.
These are the components I had in mind,... GTX 260 SP216, Corsair TX 750, AM2 7850+ BE.
Will these be overkill for my mobo, or can I run them??, Also I only game @ 1280x1024 for now, and I have a stable VIP 500Watts SMPS which is running fine.
In the future(six months) I would like to build another rig runnin a Core i7 then and the 260 SLIed with a much bigger monitor...
Am I buying the right parts??
