Ah I don't see it happening due to it limiting their market and possibly pressure from retailers. However it would be interesting seeing the main gaming market in direct competition with the likes of steam. It would probably do a allot of good for pc gaming if prices in the console download market were much higher than services such as steam. Though on the other hand it could also just raise consumer apathy and increase piracy on the pc.
However I'd really miss the hard copy's of games. The artwork, the manual, just the general feeling of having a physical copy of a game in your hands and of course not forgetting that new game smell :P In a way I hope video games never completely go download only.
Thankyou tc
Ah and I remember a time not so long ago that some cows were complaing gamespot had a 360 bias, how the tables have turned :P
personally I recommend playing them on their original systems... FF1 on NES and FF2 on SNES.
I didn't like the DS translation of FF2. Too much was different from the game that I remember when I first played it.
I don't know which versions of FF are on the PSN/PSP, but I know that the Origins compilation had them fairly close to the original. Some of the translations had been altered, but the gameplay was nearly identical.
It's all a matter of preference, but I would say
First, original games on original hardware.
Second, Origins series on PS1
and then, third, any version you can find.

Thanks allot, that's really helpful.
I've finally got round to really looking up some of those games I always said I'd play when I got the time and so far I've been focusing my attention on the first two final fantasys. There such old games in a flagship series though that there are so many versions of them in all different platforms and packages. It's not practical for me to get the very originals right now, maybe one day. However it seems the closer you get to the newest psp versions the more additional content you get but the games get less representative of the originals and their difficulty.
So because of all that I was wondering if someone could advise me on the best versions of the games. I was thinking maybe origins or dawn of souls but I'm open to any suggestions.
I think your just over simplifying a whole bunch of issues.
I like to be challenged and made to think so I may not always complete a game on the hardest difficulty at first but I'll want to later. So yeah I like a game to be hard but within reason. Sometimes a game can end up feeling cheap rather than challenging where they make some part ridiculously frustrating that honestly ends up requiring more luck than skill.
It has to be the original :D
It had its problems like most games though it's still definetly my favourite game in the series. But maybe it was too hard. I just say that because super mario galaxy seemed stupidly easy too me in comparison and it got game of the year here.
