There is something that u guys have to understand, THIS ISNT A DEMO big big difference between demo and beta. and everyone thats going to come up here and write about how underpowered the 360 is and how the graphics dont look that great need to move on. come on now, we have realized that next gen graphics arent completely about the resolution anymore, the effects are what really impress us nowadays and for what this article is showing, the effects that they are displaying here have evolved dramatically from halo2 to this STILL UNDER-DEVELOPMENTAL STAGE here. most games have several different stages of development which would include pre-alpha, alpha, beta, gamma (depending on dev team, time and money). and even still there are versions of betas also. give them the time to do what they are paid to do. this is the first time that i can remember that a company would show the worldwide public the beta to its flagship title. lets just enjoy it for what it is.
look i dont like sony, but there something aside from the price of the ps3 that ill never understand about them, if you have a location free player that lets you watch your own tv from a location free player (like your psp or mylo) WHY THE HELL CANT YOU SEE PSP GAMES AND MOVIES THRU THE PS3?!! no sense, you can remotely access a psp from a ps3 but you cant actually watch whats currently playing on the da-mn thing. always talk about how strong your hardware is but you cant do someting that nintendo has been doing for years, make some type of marriage to the portable console. and stop looking at other companies for their "original thinking"
um im going to have to add to the negative here with something im pretty sure we all see but no one is talking about. all consoles have to play games, with the lack of quality games out for the ps3, and the fact that ff12, god of war 2 and the like are still getting pumped out of the ps2 family it would look like the smart money right now would be to buy a ps2. and thats unfortunate to those places out of japan and north america...the key here is that you cant push the current gen marketleader into the next gen if those games suck. they will continue to take a pounding and punish those loyal sony customers who for some reason or another still believe that spending 600 (american) makes sense to play ported 360 games with inferior online play.
i was thinking about this for a minute and i had a mini arguement with my friends about this too, Sony did sell a whole hell of a lot of units in Japan, but when you compare what the gamecube did in japan, you'll know why.... the wii is going to hurt ps3 sales in japan greatly and one can only wonder how the wii and ds will work together but that cant spell bad news for sony. why do you think that microsoft openly praises nintendo?? nintendo is the only gaming company in japan that can match or exceed sony's penetration level...and for the xbox thats a great thing...mainly because in England, New Zealand and Aussie land, the 360 is making folks microsoft loyalist and expanding their penetration levels there. if sony isnt dominant in its home country and penetration levels in places that arent the US (and Canada) begin to decrease, then this console war is a lot more even then most people want to admit. alot will be riding on the xbla games too....nintendo can use the sucess of those game to decide what they want to release at what times for the virtual console and the 360 will continue to get 7.95 a month from people as well as the 10 bucks for the thousands of people that are going to play sfII (easy cheap development + re-occuring forms of payment = the begining steps in online svc dominance...that head start begins to pay off) something else to remember, dont be surprised if sony doesnt get as many exclusive titles for the ps3 and people becoming frustrated with the 1st party titles....and because of all this sega and sony's partnership begins to grow a bit (im just speculating but its possible due to how damn cheap its going to be to develop for the wii and to a lesser extent, 360)
sony bashing = i cant afford it???? my i work in a place that sells them and when release date came, the number of credit applications that we took in skyrocketed....its what happens not sony bashing but if you want sony bashing lemme address something first... no i havent played with the controller true, but how hard is this to see? the dual shock controller was billed to be a controller that let you FEEL what was going on in the game without having to insert anthing extra, the wii controller goes deeper into philosophy. its a bad idea and its the people that want to be on the "winning team" so bad that they just jump on the bandwagon that sony built with the ps2. in addition to this, sony has a horrible track record with pushing its own media formats, i mean its true that they were the superior format in technology but all the formats bombed, beta, md players and now umd is falling thru even walmart is starting to pull the umds off the shelves... last thing and probably most important would be the games, or the development of them. why would 3rd party developers continue to develop exclusively for a system where the dev kits are upwords of 2 g's? where the system needs a 1000 dollar (at least) add on to actually show the graphic potential? where your competetor already has penetration in home and online??? come on now, there has to be a point where you dont blindly choose sony. easy
lets get somethings clear.... 1. the price is a huge factor in a system. there are a lot of people out there that bought a core 360 instead of the platinum and just waited till their next paycheck came to buy the extra stuff. 600 beans and no pack in game is going to hurt, but 500 beans and no pack in game, no memory card slots and no hdmi port hurt more. you shoot most of the real ps gamers in the gooch for not allowing the system to have hardware upgrades (which is the minimal appeal that the pc gamers have for it) 2. next gen equals getting closer to bridging the gap between pc and consoles. and we all play on the same server it wont be how hard your graphics card is hauling...so all you keyboard and mouse wusses and you even analog stick punks can all evenly get your snot boxes rocked by the full circle believers (it should go without saying that I'm a 360 supporter) 3. the wii will be innovative but lacking....marginally better graphics are whats going to hold the system back...no one is saying throw both feet in to hd nintendo, but damn can i get a lil better than the xbox please? 4. SONY IS NOT BEING INNOVATIVE AT ALL! songstar is a mixture of karoke and myspace music, the controller sucks and the motion cap has no practical uses and more importantly doesnt rumble! u cant blame that on the rumble but all of you who have bluetooth headsets and set your phone on vibrate knows how bad the first 10 secs of that convo is... 5. last...live anywhere is the perfect complement to xbl. that formula one demo that sony showed where they used the psp was cool but could you imagine if that was your phone? treo 700, cingular and tmobile mda's, moto q and my favorite ppc 6700 will be able to interact with you 360 soon and theres not a damn thing sony can do about it. imagine making a route to follow with waymarkers in r6: vegas from your phone...thats just as innovative as nintendo, its almost like having a color vmu....serious
