I didn't even consider Vue until Comcast completely aggravated me with their pricing structure. I only wanted to upgrade the TV tier of my current cable/internet/useless landline package. It would have added about 100 channels; 3/4 of which I didn't want. After all taxes and "HD technology fees ($10)" were priced in, it would have been an extra $100.
I got the 7-day free trial of Vue and haven't looked back since. $30/month well spent.
I have NO IDEA what's going on with this game. They need someone talking on one of these videos to explain what's happening on-screen better. To me, it looks like a rails game where the one thing you do is press some trigger when a bar on the rail slides under you. Looks like a hard pass to me, but GS gave it a 9?
A little over a month out on the launch of this console, and Amazon is still taking pre-orders; meaning it's not sold out. I'm thinking that there are a lot of people like me who were waiting for a 4K blu-ray capable PS4, and are sitting this one out.
Sony painted themselves into a corner by not including one. As an optics issue, they will have to wait several years for the next PS iteration, or consumers will get real tired of putting down $400 every year for incremental upgrades. In that time, Xbox One S, or Scorpio will look like a great value proposition because they are a game console that has a free 4K media player.
I can see myself picking up a Microsoft console, just to be able to maximize my TV experience. Even if I don't pick up a single game, Sony has forced my hand and made the decision for me. To be honest, I will most likely be purchasing AAA exclusives for Xbox as well. This slow trickle of MS into my life is how Sony is going to lose brand-loyal users like me, and most likely millions of others.
"The Pro will not have a 4K Blu-ray drive." Stopped reading right there; so disappointed.
If you don't own one yet, then the $100 jump from the PS4 Slim is nothing for future-proofing your investment. For someone like me who already has a PS4 (launch), I'm going to see what the HDR firmware upgrade can do in terms of visuals for my 4K TV.
The first console with a 4K Blu-ray drive gets my $400-$500 day one.
This is sounding a lot like a color filter that you can unlock at the end of Uncharted...
I want to know if this thing can actually play 4K blu-ray discs (the ones that come in the black cases) at true 4k. Stand-alone 4K players are now a little north of $300.
If it's only firmware, and not an actual hardware component that allows the blu-ray lasers to read 4K discs, will the universal firmware upgrade that's coming up allow 1st gen PS4s to play those 4K discs?
Is getting to the center the main mission besides exploration?
It's disappointing to learn that the core storyline can be finished this quickly after release, especially in such an expansive universe. That seems like a difficulty balance issue that should have been addressed before release.
I was thankful that PS+ gave away Rebel Galaxy this month to feed my space exploration itch.
