There's so much misinformation in this thread it's unbelievable. Most of the points have fortunately been corrected. To the guy thinking of modding his Wii to play foreign games, that's not a good idea. From what I've heard, people who modded their PAL Wiis to play Super Paper Mario ended up having the update that comes with it brick their Wii.

With regards to firmware updates bricking or disabling modchip'd Wiis, that's unlikely due to the nature of the modchips (if we disregard the fact that most come with a stealth mode). I'm not going to go into details here because I have a feeling I'm already on the very edge of what the TOS allows.

To those talking about hoping that it won't allow burnt games online, there are people who use mod chips to actually play backups to avoid scratching their actual discs - or so they claim. ;)

Also, regarding the PSP homebrew scene, while initially Sony was winning with the constant firmware updates, it seems they've been completely outdone by the community at this point.

[QUOTE="specialvi"][QUOTE="coonana"][QUOTE="LOLhahaDEAD"]

I might have to pick this up. It sounds fun.

I really like that FCs are for unranked matches, and the matches that are important don't use FCs. That was a good decision on Nintendo's part.

coonana

No that only sets up more walls. No fcs in ranked matches just makes it more restrictive.

they don't let you face friends in ranked matches cause you could cheat, i think they did a good thing

Well that could be called a sacrifice for making their online plan more open or they could prevent it by other means. Its not that hard to stop. You make it so you dont get points for beating your friends. Also they can have admins or have an easy way to report cheating.

Also why do they only have it 2v2 and I am just guessing they arent gonna have LAN connection or chatting. See the whole insufficient online is getting old. I am just making complaints that appearantly cant be disputed.

Oh, you mean like unranked play using FC? Why would you report yourself or your friend if they're helping you boost your ranking? BTW, you've just been disputed.

Also, online is clearly not Nintendo's forte. Give them some time, this is only the second game online for the Wii and there's only a handful of online otherwise.

I think if they just kept moving/aiming as it is now and let you maybe hold either z or c to temporarily go to a fixed reticule so that you could look around it would work fairly well. Although I haven't played any of the FPSes so it's pure speculation.

[QUOTE="reggie186"]

[QUOTE="gatsbythepig"]You save Wii game info on your Wii and you save GC info on your GC memory card.tomd1990

He's asking if when you save a GC game on a GC memory card on your Wii, will that gamesave work in the Gamecube as well.

wth of course you can....lol it seems obvious to me, if you make a save onto a GC memory card its gonna work no matter which its plugged into, just like if you save stuff from wii to an sd card then plug it into pc they still appear

There were some problems with 3rd party GC memory cards/controllers that didn't work on the Wii so while it seems fairly obvious it still is a legitimate question.

The idea came from seeing Mr. Game & Watch in SSBM. I'd like to have playable Miis in SSBB, even if they're stuck with a generic set of moves. They wouldn't seem any more out of place than Mr. G&W himself. PikaPichu

How are they less out of place that Game and Watch? G&W was an actual Nintendo character (whereas Miis are a generic 3d avatar that can be customized to your liking) and at least some of the stuff he does is recognizable (other moves may be from games I didn't play).

Mii vs. Mii battles... think about it. Jesus Mii vs. Chuck Norris Mii... the epic battle for supremacy!

I'm all for Miis as playable characters since they are technically a Nintendo creation, although extremely customizable and fairly generic. I wouldn't have multiple Miis chosen in a battle, though... we can't have it Super Smash Mii: Brawl like the Weslii said. One Mii per match.

Miis in the Story Mode makes sense, too... have the Miis replace the wireframes... take out 30 Miis at once, sounds like fun.

TDLlama

What?

I wouldn't mind Miis replacing wireframes. I don't want them as playable characters though.

Did you loop the music somewhere about the 2 minute mark? Because it jumps slightly.

Otherwise, nice job.

This shows you how the controls are gonna be.

If you look at it most of it is mapped out like the GC controller without having the advantage of a second analog. This sucks because if they properly implemented it with motion sensing controls it would have a great advantage over the dual analog control.

Here is how it should really be:

C button-equip knife, swing Nunchuk to attack with knife.

They then should give you various direction that you are able to swing the knife, giving RE4 for Wii a huge advantage over the other versions because you are able to attack with your knife much faster and more accurate.

coonana

You can already swing the remote and it's not like you have a gun out at the same time so I don't see why you would want that. I'd much rather swing with my primary hand. Also, "shake" could just be poor wording, it's not like there's a well defined lexicon for wii control terms yet.

Z Button-Z+foward to run, Z+backward.

This part works fine theres not much to do with it.

coonana

I'm not sure if you mean tilting the nunchuck back/forth, if so it's just an unnecessary gimmick. Otherwise just disregard this comment.

Remote-aim gun.

This better be accurate and faster so much that people want to get the Wii version for such a better control.

coonana

Now you're just complaining for complaining's sake. Why does it matter if other people want to get it or not? Remakes are just cash grab attempts anyways.

D-pad-press any direction to make the Wiimote sensor able to manipulate the screen.

This is much better than slapping a 8 direction D-pad to chnage the view in a 3d world. The Wiimote is a better way to change the view even than the analog.

coonana

Not a big deal if you can manipulate the screen really, chances are this would actually be more difficult (screen being moved too much too quickly). Also, it would stop you from aiming or completely throw you off your aim until you recentre your remote.

Jabbing Wiimote left or right-reloads weapon.

This is mcuh faster than reloading by shaking the Wiimote or even by pressing a button. The could use a button to reload.

coonana

How do you know that its not a single shake? What if you suddenly need to aim from one side of the screen to the other and find yourself reloading by accident? Maybe if you simply had to bring the remote off the screen and back on like what was done with lightguns.

A button/B Button-to activate switches and doors in the game, fire your weapon when holding B.

This doesnt require any change.

The reast is good.

As of right now the way Capcom wants to do the controls is a major step back from the GC/PS2 except for the aiming. I hope to god they change it. What do you guys thing baout the crappy controls they have assigned.

coonana

How is this a step back? You also go on to say later that it's no good because it's the same essentially except the second analog (c-stick) which is just remapped to the d-pad anyways.

Typical Micro$oft propaganda.... The person who wrote this article is obviously part of micro$oft'$ $3.2 billion viral marketing campaign. It's totally natural for sales rates to drop after the feeding frenzy that is a console launch. The PS3 broke sales records all over Europe who in their right mind expected that sales pace to keep up? As for an 82% sales drop only retailers and Sony know if that's true, websites have been wrong before. Remember the articles saying the PS3 launch in the UK was a flop?....jdt532
The world is not out to get you. It's safe to take off your tinfoil hat. While the title is certainly provocative and the article seems to have a negative spin, it actually only presents the facts as they are. Any reasonable person would not go straight to false numbers but reason that with the amazing first week the PS3 had, sales were bound to drop. Most likely, since they were not short on supplies, almost everyone who wanted a PS3 got it the first week. Note: "Chart Track data is gathered from 7000 UK retail outlets representing 90 per cent of the software market" Meaning that its pretty accurate. There's a good chance Sony doesn't even have as accurate of stats about the actual units sold.

I hate how these always turn into discussions about the controller setup. No one has confirmed anything, so let's just leave it at that. Anyways, I am also a competitive smasher, and a major topic of discussion between my friends and I is whether or not wavedashing will still be in Brawl. In the Nintendo World video Metaknight does this weird dash-back when he gets attacked. It doesn't look like a roll, but it also doesn't look exactly like wavedashing.. but kind of a mix between the two. Pit also does it later when Zero suit Samus attacks him. So, I'm curious what this move is. Is it a wavedash? Or did the Smash Bros team make wavedashing into something else that's easier for everyone to use? jbrittain
I believe wavedashing has been taken out. I'm too lazy to look for a direct or even second hand source so make of it what you will.

[QUOTE="psybrid"][QUOTE="techargon"]i have a better idea, just buy a 60g instead of trying to make yours look like one, that's like buying a honda engine and sticking it in a porsche, congrats on making yourself look either poor or dumbdubvisions
So he likes the chrome strip, it's costing him next to nothing to perform the upgrade. If you could get the body of a porsche for free and also get it placed over your honda for free would you do it? That's a little more accurate of an analogy. Oh, and congrats on being a jacka**.

No here's the proper analogy. You get a car, any car brand new. But the manufacturer also sells a sepcial edition model in a special color. Instead of you just accepting that your cars color is what it is, you decide to paint it. Once you paint it, the value on your car drops 30%. Now, you are officially an idiot who ruined his car because he couldn't accept its color. Moral of the story.......... Either be patient when buying and get what you are sure you want, or deal with what you got and don;t try to change it. You'll onyl end up making things worse.

I just wanted to modify his analogy. I realize you can make a better one. Also, it's more like he painted flames onto his new car. After all, it's only a stripe not a complete colour change. Besides, I doubt he's planning to sell it any time soon. Unlike cars, most consoles stay with you for life (or until broken). Also note, the 60gb is denoted by it's stripe but also has other defining features inside so it's obvious he just likes the stripe but doesn't want to pay the extra 100ish for a 60gb. So really, the whole car analogy is awful and shouldn't have been used in the first place. There are plenty of people who mod/paint their consoles (as with cars but we've already determined the car analogy isn't very accurate). You could call them all idiots I guess but you'd only make yourself seem even more ignorant.
