[QUOTE="catlin_czirr"]Wow this is insane just to run games like Crysis at playable framerates, when games that look almost as good (killzone 2) are on a $400 console. Something is wrong here.psyko_Reaper

wrong

not even with a qx9775 oced like $h*t, 3 ultras in sli and 4gigs of ram ur able to max out crysis and have smooth framerates. So $1000+ processor, $250+ mobo, about $2000 vga's and $200 plus ram can max out crysis. I'd say it's pretty useless then

sorry, i meant can't

the 9800 is gonna be here in february or smthg like that, but its not only gonna be twice as powerfull as the 8800gt, its also gonna be 3 times as expensive (gt is about $220 now and the 9800 is sure to break the $600 barrier), so i'd go for a gt right now and then update in a couple of years, u'll still be able to curse crysis for not being playable in very high by then :P)

if u don't intend to use wireless network buy the non-wi-fi version of that mb. Raptor's good if u don't wanna store truckloads of stuff in there, but i would go for a 200gig or 300gig hd, as they tend to be cheaper. Geil and Teamgroup both have very stable, reliable, overclockable and cheap ram, so the u'll be mostly paying the brand when buying the corsair (buy a cheaper ram now and upgrade later, especially if u plan to overclock, squeeze the cheap stuff first until u get the hang of it). if u don't want to overclock u can lose the cpu cooler, the vga is good if ur don't want to spend a lot of money, but i would go fotr the hd3850, it's a lot better and still cheap.

all this and building the rig urself could net u a good gamming pc for about 1000dlrs

the tower should cost about 800 to 1200dlrs deppending on ur budget and the computer's use ande i wouldn't exceed 300dlrs peripherals (maybe a little more if u plan to buy some pretier or dvi cables or smthg) but 2300dlrs is way too much for a pc. Yeah it does perform like a rabbit on prozac mates, but u pay too much for a marginal performance increase.

maybe it's just the drivers, if not i don't know what ati is doing wrong to have higher clocks and still a crapy performance (lack of shader clock? (warning ati noob and nvidia fanboy))

seriously now, crossfirex seems a great idea, but i think nvidia will copy it soon enough, so don't go that way. for a card that had that whole lot of potential on paper it seems like the hd3870 is just a hd2900 (i think we're missing something here)

i'm not strong on amd cpu's so i'll leave that to someone else.

it's a great pc, that hdd seems kinda small though, but that depends on what u plan to store there
