Funny how everyone with broken xbox360's did nothing about the dust collection inside their console and died.

plus room temps vary depending on locations.

A lot less than many people would have you believe. My friend has a 360 (got it about a year ago) and all this time has had it sitting laying down on thick carpet surrounded by hundreds of other console wires and it has yet to see any issues with performance. I am actually surprised it hasn't RR'd yet.foxhound_fox

he must keep his house really cool lol.

id hate to see what that 360 looks like on the inside

This is where my 360 has sat ever since launch...not one failure..not one problem..

unholymight

well i guess you disprove qweeqe's point about heat causing the rrod, must be an internal flaw

How? what temps is his house? it could be really air conditioned that doesnt look like a very dust place.

He didnt disprove crap except he doesnt even know how 360 works.

LOL THIS DUDE IS MAKING XBOX360'S HOT AIR EXHAUST BE SUCKED BACK INTO THE CONSOLE making it run hotter than normal though.

That's a bad place for xbox360...wont get dust much there...but dude the console is blowing out hot air in the back and it's being sucked back in through the side intake holes man.

i would definitly move it

Is everyone's location the same temps? is everyones house at same temp?

if ur house is kinda hot, and ur 360's dusty...then it will have more of chance failing.

than someone with a cool house and dust free xbox360, the xbox360 will run at lower temps.

There's so many factors.

HEAT AND DUST IS KILLING XBOX360.

and users who are oblivious to how electronics work makes it worse.

So i guess everyone that has a PS3 lives in the artic circle and puts their ps3 in a dust proofing case?

ps3's gpu is less powerful so produces less heat even confirmed by resistance fall of man maker ted price.

plus ps3's cooling design is better so less chance of it exceed maximum safe temps.

plus it also depends on how hot someone house is and crap.

xbox360 doesnt have fans place directly on top of the heatsinks cooling them, so when dust collects on them.

This makes them hot and exceed 360's maxmium stable temps and causes failure .

It doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure this crap out.

You people think ps2 runs as hot as xbox360? LOL no the power powerful the hardware the more heat is generated and thus needs to be kept at cool so it doesnt exceed failing temps.

effthat

Even without discrediting that dust is the root cause (which it isn't) you have given a very simple explanation of how this problem could be fixed! And yet you maintain that there is no design flaw?

lol it's not really a design flaw...microsoft could easily throw fans on top of the heatsinks.

it's just bad placement of fans so the heatsinks need to be kept more dust free than ps3.

Because even if ps3 has lots of dust on the heatsink it still has a fan blowing directly onto it.

xbox360 there's 2 80 mm fans in the back pulling air inside the console from the side holes the air passes on the heatsinks and get's blown out the back of 360.

Placement of fans = design

Microsoft's placement of fans was bad BECAUSE it allows dust to accumulate on the CPU, causing ineffective heat dispersion.

Ineffective heat dispersion causes the product to self-destruct under normal operational conditions.

Any error that occurs under normal operational conditions is a flaw.

The flaw is ultimately due to the design.

Therefore!!! The RRoD is a design flaw!

nope end user flaw, the cooling could of been better but it works if you clean ur 360 like any smart person does.

the more graphically intense a game is...the hotter the hardware's gonna run.

example running doom3 on my 8800 GT the temps dont get as high as let's say running crysis.

Because it's not as graphically intensive.

Also if ur heatsink is dusty in ur pc now...look at your processors temps...then clean the dust off you will see the temps will be lowered.

dust=reason xbox360's failing because it doesnt have the best cooling so needs extra care to be taken about keeping it dust free.

That's all i can tell you ^

most of xbox360's failures at caused by dust making it exceed operting temps and kills it.
