Look who we have here...

After progressing through all of Fallout 3 after losing my follower, Jericho, in Vault 112, I decided to go back to my alternate save and play around with the remaining side quests I had to do.

I had checked Megaton to see if he was there at his house, but he wasn't. He wasn't waiting for me over in Vault 112 either. So, this morning, a thought occured to me: Moriarty's Saloon. I went over and checked it out, and who do you think was sitting there sucking on a bottle of Whisky? Good old Jericho. After a not-so-friendly speech to me, he was ready for action.

I also found that I could outfit him with any extra weapons I have. In my inventory, I had a gattling laser which I wasn't using. I gave it to him and, to my surprise, he equipped it. Now, I can wander the Wasteland without the worries of survival...

Fallout 3, another game for the shelf.

After procrastinating it for a while, I decided to start playing Fallout 3 again. Since I'm not off of school for Christmas break, I had a lot of time to kill, so I just popped in the disk and started running.

I have to admit, Fallout 3 had scared me away for a while. I'm not much of a fan of constant adrenaline, which is something you usually have in your blood when you're playing Fallout 3. There are monsters, grotesque brainchildren of the sick minds of the developers down at Bethesda (which have INCREDIBLE models, although the walking animations still need a little work), around every corner. It's dark, it's scary, and it's really gorey. I don't mind the gore, which is why I decided to pick up a little thing called the Bloody Mess perk, making enemies explode in to large splatters of blood and guts and giving me an additional 5% damage with all weapons.

Given the above, I had to force myself to push the power button and finish off the game. I had started at around nine, but given the continuous adrenaline, every hour felt like meer seconds of haunted mansion horror.

One thing I really loved about the game was the plot. Your dad has escaped from Vault 101, a safe house-turned-social experiment where nobody can come or go. The security guards are after you and you need to fight through them, giving you your first real (and fairly weak, given the fact that your primary weapon is a BB gun) taste of FO3 combat.

A little while after, you manage to escape from the vault. I won't say anything about the plot after this point, because I think it's too good for words, and the only way to truely understand it is to go out and buy the game for yourself.

Do I recommend renting Fallout 3? Definitely. You can have the game done in about 10 hours if you stick to the main quest. There is a lot of DLC coming for it, but if you just want to play the main part of the game, you can rent it for a week and beat it playing it a bit every day. There is no multiplayer in Fallout 3 (no co-op, online, or system link), so if you only play multiplayer games, don't even bother with this.

If you're interested in the game, feel free to check out the review I wrote about it for the 360 right here on GameSpot.

Fallout 3

I just bought Fallout 3 yesterday, and after only about an hour of gameplay, I'm loving it. I'm especially in love with V.A.T.S., a system which pauses the game and allows you to queue up up to 5 moves on different body parts of different people.

For those of you who havn't bought the game yet, I would highly recommend it. There are a TON of ways to play the game, from being a rogue Vault escapee, slaughtering everything in your path, to being a nice guy who helps most everyone he meets. I personally chose the nice guy route, as I like games to be generally easy with the firstplay through, and I raise the difficulty on subsiquent playthroughs.

Also, I wasn't a big fan of the Elder Scrolls series, and although these have their similarities, I enjoy the FPS/RPG hybrid gameplay.

That's How We Roll!

In the air, with my man Brucie, his chopper, and half a million bucks. Don't forget my man Dwayne and his pals, and my Irish gangsta homie Packie's car bombs. I've gotten about 100 GS today, including chopper rides from Brucie, kidnapping Gracie, a mobster's daughter, and defeating 20+ guys after getting jumped with 2 mils worth of diamonds in my pocket. I'm psyched about the Microsoft E3 show that went on today and I can't wait to hear what Nintendo and Sony have to throw out.

Niko, you idiot

I've been playing more GTA IV now and I'm getting a lot better at it. I've finally been able to complete the last and lowest bridge for the Under the Radar achievement (40GS) and unlocked the 3rd and final island of the map, getting me yet another achievement. Unfortunatly, my cousins came for dinner and decided that they MUST play. I had to give my 7-year old cousin a turn because he wanted to drive my Turismo and I turned off Autosaving so that if anyone called or something happened it wouldn't interfere with my game. After they left, I knocked out about 2 hours worth of missions and decided to go Bowling with my friend Packie. I ran him over with my bus on the way out (Oops...) and lost 15% of my respect with him. I restarted GTA IV because I thought it saved and guess what... I forgot to re-enable it and lost my 2 hours of mission progress. Oh well, no use crying over spilled milk. I guess I'm just going to have to do them over again.

Ridin' Dirty

Well, it's been a while since my last post to the blog, but I've been really busy with GTA IV. I finally started playing again after my Halo 3 - BF:BC binge and I completely forgot how fun it was. I've already done another 10-15% of the game and gotten 100+ gamerscore points from it. A couple of the achievements I've gotten so far are Wheelie Rider and Chain Reaction.

I don't want to be in no GOOD company!

I've been playing the demo of Battlefield: Bad Company and it's an incredible game. It has a variety of classes and gives you the option of choosing where to spawn, at your base or with your squad in the heat of combat. It has 5 classes, each with its own variety of weapons and items. Every time you rank up you can upgrade your weapon or get a new item. For each class the choice of items and weapons differs, and the variety is incredible. Some of the items include binoculars that allow you to drop a missile on a target vehicle and guide it for a pinpoint drop, or a GPS that allows you to call in a mortar strike on a location of your choice. The graphics are great and the controls are easy to pick up. There are vehicles such as helicopters, light and heavy tanks, and humvees. If you havn't downloaded the demo yet, you can grab it off of the XBL marketplace.

Who ever said being an assassin was easy?

Why don't you try taking on 25 soldiers at once, lasting 10 minutes in open combat, or killing 100 opponents without dieing? It's not as easy as it may sound. Today I unlocked a lot of achievements from Assassin's Creed and it was great! Unfortunatly, I was unlocking the Eagle's Will (kill 100 opponents without dieing) achievement and wasn't smart enough to remember that I had already unlocked it. So, 1 hour and 300 dead soldiers later, I realized I had unlocked it... Epic phail...

Wrath of the Eagle

This week I've been playing more Assassin's Creed and have been trying to get some more achievements from it. I've already gotten 8 achievements (worth 125 gamerscore points) in a little over a day. I've played it for 6-8 hours so far, so that's a good rate of gaining points. That's the same amout of points you would get for completing Halo 3 on Legendary, which would take about the same amount of time (8 hours) if you got 3 other players and played it through.

I've also been celebrating Bungie Day! Today is Bungie Day, 7-7-08, and the new Cold Storage map is out for free on the marketplace. A new playlist, called Icy Treats, has been added as well. It's an unranked 7-player free for all game played on the Cold Storage map only. Unfortunatly, it's so laggy from all the players trying to download it that I can't seem to get through, so I guess I'll have to wait until this evening. Sadly, Bungie didn't make its goal of 7 billion campaign kills, but that's not damaging any Halo 3 player's spirit!
