I also enjoy movie theatres! :DDS_fan_aticI hate them. I hate the people. I hate the lines. I hate parking. I hate it all. I'd rather bring the theater to my living room. So far, with several objections from the wife, I've done that. :)

Do you also think that regular definition programming looks the same as high definition programming?[QUOTE="ramey70"][QUOTE="DS_fan_atic"]*sigh* I have a hig def TV downstairs and we have an upscaling DVD player, looks fine to me...DS_fan_atic
there is a notable difference yes, but upscaling DVD players go up to 1080i, pretty good no?
still the amount we're paying for "high def" boggles the mind...it's not even a huge leap if you ask me
But therein lies the difference. Upscaling is fake, and it is noticeable. No matter how good of a scaler you have, your source content is still 480i on a DVD. That's less than digital cable. When you watch a show on Discovery Home Theater HD in 1080i it is jawdropping because what you see is what was filmed, it is a pure transfer. I want that same level of detail in my movies and I think I deserve it.360:
I love the controller. If I've played a lot of PS3 games and then play a 360 game it's almost damn near theurapeutic to hold the 360's controller in my hands. It's almost like it was made by God himself to fit in a human hand. Live is awesome in its own right and I love the media streaming capabilities from my PC. The gaming library is good for a year old system and there's a wide range of genres available.
PS3
As the owner of a 56" 1080p set the Bluray playback feature is downright awesome. If it weren't for the Bluray I probably wouldn't have one now, and would be content to wait on more exclusive content for the PS3 library. The Sixaxis motion controller seems rushed and tacked on. I rarely use the feature, except for free throws in NBA/NCAA 2k7 and putting out myself on fire on Resistance. I really like the XMB and think it is very easy to navigate. Not worse than the 360 dashboard, just different and just as effective.
I really enjoy both and depending on the day I like one more than the other. The truth is that they are both inanimate objects that provide entertainment for me. It's silly to get attached to either one like fanboys tend to do.

Agreed. If the PS3 didn't have a Bluray player I would probably get rid of it. Especially with DMC going to the 360 now.Despite the problems Blu-ray caused for the PS3 early on, the Blu-ray capabilities is what is helping them out. Face the facts, Blu-ray has major supporters, more movies, and with its current lead it will win. I was an early HD-DVD adopter but most of the better movies are coming on Blu-ray now, and thats a strong reason why I bought a PS3 right now instead of later.

nobody really wanted Blu-ray, everyones just pretending they did...DVD is where it's at, and where it will be for a while. DS_fan_aticMany people, myself included, didn't invest in an HDTV to watch trashy DVD's. We can get 1080i/720p network broadcasts over the air, so it's only right we get at least the same for our movies.
[QUOTE="Ibacai"][QUOTE="JiveT"]I really don't think the PS3 could run those two games without a lot of grunt work from the progammers. They'd be porting it to a system with a pathetic user base. Its probably not a good financial move. Maybe in a year or two. Expect major downgrades. The textures are too much for the PS3 to handle.ZenkusoSpoken like a true fanboy.
He isn't being a fanboy, capcom stated this in an interview months back.
And Kojima said that MGS needed Bluray. Do you believe him as well?
