[QUOTE="SolidSnake35"][QUOTE="CarlosPontinas"][QUOTE="SolidSnake35"]You could ask similar questions to owners of every console going...CarlosPontinas

You can't be blamed for buying into the hype, but a person looking forvalue would do some research to find out which console has the best value.

I have a 360 to fall back on, but I doubt the PS3 will be completely useless regardless of what happens. I really don't want to have to buy that HDDVD addon.

This is what I mean. You won't be falling back on the 360 because it is a much better games console than the PS3. You also don't need a BR player for gaming. Your perceptions are based upon empty hype. Luckily you're in a position to benefit because you'll be able to see what I mean. Most cows won't.

You should tell everyone how you work in the gaming industry again.

I have a 1080p HDTV and a nice surround setup.  DVD's don't cut it for me and Bluray had more support.  I already had a 360 so I figured I'd go ahead and get it for the movie capability.  Gaming has been lean on the system but I've enjoyed it so far, especially resistance.

[QUOTE="kkee"]In simple form:

Number of PAL PS2 games = 2500
Number of PAL PS2 games that will work on PAL PS3 = 1000
Percentage of games that work = 1000/2500 = 0.4 = 40%
console_fanboy
nice cowlogic, the fact is it only has 12.5% B/C. u fail.

What's factually wrong with his post?

[QUOTE="ramey70"][QUOTE="console_fanboy"][QUOTE="donalbane"]What's the percentage for 360? Like 2%? Nemme
owned, its like 30%. and 30% > 12.5%

As a previous poster said, the PS3's European BC is far higher than 12.5%. There weren't 8,000 PAL games released.

How many were there?

He said about 2,500. Another link in this thread showed that over 1,000 games are working with the Euro PS3. That would put the percentage at about 66% or so.

The funny thing most people don't realise is, the 360 is GTA:IVs lead platform. So the game is being made to fit DVD9s, not Blu-ray disks.Raidea
Where has Rockstar made the claim that the 360 is GTA:IV's lead platform?

Since when have 8000 PS2 games been released in Europe? There have been about 2500 games released in PAL regions, so if at least 1000 games work, thats at least 40%.

There have been about 8000 PS2 games released WORLDWIDE, but since the Playstation 3 bc only works for each region, the 1 in 8 figure is complete rubbish.

Sony said they were going to do this last summer.  It's nothing new.  Don't be surprised if they stop making the EE available in Japan and the US as well.  I'd go one further and bet they will even disable BC via the EE on older systems with an update in the future as well.

Looks like someone has a Samsung HLS-xx87W set.   I have the 56" version and it does indeed accept 1080p over component.

the cost of using blu-ray>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>the price of using dvdBuryMe
A Mercedes costs more than a Ford Focus. But for some people it's worth it.
