Muslims and Gamers, Little Big Planet Delayed!!

Well I think it's really bad to start my blog with this news, but this is something I've been thinking about for a lot of time now. Little big Planet was delayed because of a music track containing verses from the Qur'an.

I must say that as a Muslim myself i feel sad. this things shouldn't happen, they are just wrong. The fact that verses from the Qur'an are added to a song is wrong from my religion, but i don't care. I'm against all types of censorships whatever they are and in this case my mind doesn't change, this is wrong.

But let me explain this in more details. Sony nearly releases a game with verses of the Qur'an in the background music, and someone reports that. it's not my fault, it's not my friends' fault and it's not anyone's fault, but people are ignorant and can't understand one thing; it's a game.

Games are becoming more important in our life, and so the censorship is becoming more strict (or stupid) the fact that someone may find that music offensive is not impossible, but i just attended a of Computer Ethics a couple of days ago and the definition of Ethics in that lecture was as follows "Ethics is a rule or law that makes the majority of people happy" Ok, it doesn't mean that it's right, but why did they Delay the game? was it unethical?

As I stated above I'm a Muslim myself, I'm fairly religious, i hate fanatics and honestly feel bad when i read forums insulting my religion and my sacred book. is this something we deserve? maybe if we stopped being so stubborn and let thing go by may help us, or make us like 80% of the teens in Europe and stop believing in religion?

In Egypt, where I live, we are fairly open minded and most of young ones here don't care about it and if they did have a problem with a game they would just refrain from buying it, or if he country had problems with it they should simply ban it. It's not quantum physics, it's just common sense. But Sony doesn't seem to get it this way....

I don't have the answers, but what i think is that Sony shouldn't delay the game for such a reason, and most importantly Muslims shouldn't always create debates out of nothing. But the most important thing is that I dedicated all my life (and hopefully) the rest of it to games.... I'm a Muslim, Yes, But I'm a Gamer that wants to play a game and I'm proud of it.
