to say nothing has translated from indie to triple A just sound like something that shouldn't be true, im sure there is something out there the best i came up with was maybe minecraft and trions trove or Fallout's settlement building but minecraft is a tricky beast sure maybe in it's infancy was indie but it became something else now being bought by Microsoft its changed again a bit tricky to use something like that as a example of this propagation of ideas

hey so im currently doing a essay on the relationship between indie game and AAA game spaces weather they are complimentary or adversarial and am having a bit of trouble with the research sample, i need to find examples of a mechanic propagating from an indie game to a AAA game, and another in the other direction.
for example lets take harvest moon and the whole farming mechanics etc... (AAA) and then we see something like stardew valley doing the same thing a little bit different but building upon the foundation of harvest moon games (and maybe doing it a little better? )
i wanted to see what other example of this are there going both ways... i cant think of more than a few examples non of which are all that exciting or new-ish
so what do you guys think? any suggestions?
