Very good critique. However, it's always easy to criticize, but hard to execute. Having never made a game or even a review like this, I can only critique as well. I agreed with most of the points, particularly with the 3rd person connection. That's one thing that 1st person games have to try very hard at. Even when it's working, the connection is very fragile, I think. Playing 1st person games, most times we're not considering the character as a real person--more, they're just a sort of vehicle for the player.
@gamebreakerz__ There's something to say about FPS too, and these -- what 30FPS videos? -- don't do games justice anyhow. Gotta see 'em live at 60FPS+ whatever.
It's cool they keep improving things. It means forward movement, even if in small steps. I'm sure Nintendo doesn't expect everyone to buy the DS eighteen times, but the option is there. As for me, I think I'll have to wait and see what they come out with for DSiWare. Some awesome downloadable software titles could push me over the edge for upgrading, but it'll take some really great ones to drop that kind of money again. I'll wait for DS 2 probably. Seems like a no-brainer for people who are buying a DS for the first time, though. Bigger screens and add-on content for games sounds pretty cool even if it's a step later than the PSP. I'm all for progress however it comes. Also, I agree with most people saying this is going to be a great thing for younger audiences. I can see a lot of kids enjoying the camera and mic features. And parents can get their kid a digital camera, an MP3 player and game device in one (without the commitment of a 300 dollar cellphone). The DSi seems like a big deal to me, in that way.
