Adios Amigos!

So it has been a while since i wrote here, well, ok maybe not a while, more like 6 months but since my birthday things have been quite different, i tried to focus more on studying, my GPA was going down, i just had to raise it and forget about playing games once and for all.

After raising my GPA, i had to take the summer course in a very short period of time, two months to be precise, i finished last week, and hopefully did good, before that, and as you all already know, GB launched ,and i had the chance to sign up, with a different nickname this time, ZeroCast, i began blogging there and intend to stay on GB, if you guys haven't signed up already, it will be great to have you there.

Well, in the end of this last entry of mine, i spent some wonderful days here on GS, it sure has been one heck of a ride.

I'll miss you guys, i really will.

I Am Officially 20 !

Happy Birthday to me :D !

20 Years have passed in a flash ,and what comes next is the most important.

Now all i need is a piece of my Cake ,which is an Almond Croquant Flavor.

Whats your Favorite Cake Flavor ?

7 Medical Myths Even Doctors Believe

Popular culture is loaded with myths and half-truths. Most are harmless. But when doctors start believing medical myths, perhaps it's time to worry.

In the British Medical Journal this week, researchers looked into several common misconceptions, from the belief that a person should drink eight glasses of water per day to the notion that reading in low light ruins your eyesight.

"We got fired up about this because we knew that physicians accepted these beliefs and were passing this information along to their patients," said Dr. Aaron Carroll, assistant professor of pediatrics at the Indiana University School of Medicine. "And these beliefs are frequently cited in the popular media."

And so here they are, so that you can inform your doctor:

Myth : We use only 10 percent of our brains.

Fact : Physicians and comedians alike, including Jerry Seinfeld, love to cite this one. It's sometimes erroneously credited to Albert Einstein. But MRI scans, PET scans and other imaging studies show no dormant areas of the brain, and even viewing individual neurons or cells reveals no inactive areas, the new paper points out. Metabolic studies of how brain cells process chemicals show no non-functioning areas. The myth probably originated with self-improvement hucksters in the early 1900s who wanted to convince people that they had yet not reached their full potential, Carroll figures. It also doesn't jibe with the fact that our other organs run at full tilt.

------------------------------------

Myth : You should drink at least eight glasses of water a day.

Fact : "There is no medical evidence to suggest that you need that much water," said Dr. Rachel Vreeman, a pediatrics research fellow at the university and co-author of the journal article. Vreeman thinks this myth can be traced back to a 1945 recommendation from the Nutrition Council that a person consume the equivalent of 8 glasses (64 ounces) of fluid a day. Over the years, "fluid" turned to water. But fruits and vegetables, plus coffee and other liquids, count.

-------------------------------------

Myth : Fingernails and hair grow after death.

Fact : Most physicians queried on this one initially thought it was true. Upon further reflection, they realized it's impossible. Here's what happens: "As the body's skin is drying out, soft tissue, especially skin, is retracting," Vreeman said. "The nails appear much more prominent as the skin dries out. The same is true, but less obvious, with hair. As the skin is shrinking back, the hair looks more prominent or sticks up a bit."

---------------------------------------

Myth : Shaved hair grows back faster, coarser and darker.

Fact : A 1928 clinical trial compared hair growth in shaved patches to growth in non-shaved patches. The hair which replaced the shaved hair was no darker or thicker, and did not grow in faster. More recent studies have confirmed that one. Here's the deal: When hair first comes in after being shaved, it grows with a blunt edge on top, Carroll and Vreeman explain. Over time, the blunt edge gets worn so it may seem thicker than it actually is. Hair that's just emerging can be darker too, because it hasn't been bleached by the sun.

-------------------------------------

Myth : Reading in dim light ruins your eyesight.

Fact : The researchers found no evidence that reading in dim light causes permanent eye damage. It can cause eye strain and temporarily decreased acuity, which subsides after rest.

---------------------------------

Myth : Eating turkey makes you drowsy.

Fact : Even Carroll and Vreeman believed this one until they researched it. The thing is, a chemical in turkey called tryptophan is known to cause drowsiness. But turkey doesn't contain any more of it than does chicken or beef. This myth is fueled by the fact that turkey is often eaten with a colossal holiday meal, often accompanied by alcohol - both things that will make you sleepy.

-------------------------------------

Myth : Mobile phones are dangerous in hospitals.

Fact : There are no known cases of death related to this one. Cases of less-serious interference with hospital devices seem to be largely anecdotal, the researchers found. In one real study, mobile phones were found to interfere with 4 percent of devices, but only when the phone was within 3 feet of the device. A more recent study, this year, found no interference in 300 tests in 75 treatment rooms. To the contrary, when doctors use mobile phones, the improved communication means they make fewer mistakes.

"Whenever we talk about this work, doctors at first express disbelief that these things are not true," said Vreeman said. "But after we carefully lay out medical evidence, they are very willing to accept that these beliefs are actually false."

Snowy Thursday

--Don't you just love it when you wake up one morning; doubting its going to snow and then looking from the window to find out the whole country is covered with that white shiny thing, well, that's exactly what happened today, I even bet my brother for 1 JD last night telling him:" Dude, just get it out of your head, its not going to snow tomorrow" then he said to me : "we'll see..." , oh he was right , and not only that , but my friend had also told me that every 5 years a large snow storm rages Jordan, 1993,1998,2003 and now 2008 ,come to think of it , 2003 indeed had a big one ,as for 1998, I didn't live in Jordan at that time , believe it or not I lived in Wales ,UK, man that brings up a lot of memories....anyways , I couldn't let this day go without capturing a couple of photos ,so here are 2 pics of my street and a "un-sabotaged" yard.

Its Exam Time !

Yep , it's this time of the year where my university exams commence , from tomorrow till the 26 of Jan , am going to have a Jam-Packed week of studying , so until i finish, wish me luck , I'll need it !!

What is really going on?

It appears that Alex Navarro will be sent off - as kotaku reports -on the 24 of Jan.

What is happening here?

We have all seen what happened when Jeff was gone , now this is happening , and i don't think the GS community will be happy about it , believe me am having a lot of doubts now about the pattern of this dilemma , there has to be a rational explanation of his departure, and if there isn't, god knows what's going to happen, GS is hanging on a thin line here, it could lose more of its dedicated people ,I never thought on leaving GS, but it appears they are leaving me no other choice but to think the opposite direction.

Happy New Year. Its 2008

2008 is here people, I just hope that every 1 out there had wonderful times in 07, it sure has been an amazing year for games & gamers alike, I also hope this year brings joy and happiness to you all , Good Night and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Ok ,here is what i think

Before I start, I know am a little late in writing something about the recent events, but I just felt that I had to write something since I didn't write for a while now, anyway here it goes:

GS has been my gaming site since back in 2003, now I know that's nothing considering some people here visited the site even before that, but when I first wanted to decide whether it was this site or IGN it was just a matter of a seconds, I took a look at both of them and said" Gamespot is my site for games " , and since then that didn't change , until the whole Jeff's departure thing came up , people started leaving GS saying its credibility is lost , we will never trust GS again,...,and all of that stuff , well , Jeff's Departure is something that stroke me and I simply couldn't believe my hears , but when things became rising up the surfs , I really felt this sense of lose , not only because am going to miss a great reviewer , but because he had this kind of touch that kept this site going and where it is right now , and since I listened to the Hotspot where some of the GS staff talked about the situation , I really thought : Why would i want to turn my back on a site that opened its doors for me & introduced to a completely new prospective of a gaming community , I sure as hell wouldn't, sure I might have a little doubt that any up coming review might have been effected but that will all fade away when you look at people who devoted there life to GS, do u think they will go over that and get effect by outer pressure, i don't think so.

With that said , am going to continue surfing GS's pages and try my best to write here , in this humble Blog , and before I go , I just wanted to say it was nice to see Jeff last night, he appeared in an episode of a show called "Tekzilla" which can be watched here , take care and good bye.

Useful Stuff # 1

Whats up every 1, I hope u are all doing well, this is my first Useful Stuff Blog ,its simply about things that I read about and thought that I share it with u guys, for example in this blog am going to tell you how to make your Firefox browser faster (sorry IE users) & other stuff too ,now lets begin :

1-How to make your Firefox browser faster

It's actually pretty simple, and yes, it did work for me, I noticed the browser load faster than before, lets start by launching your Firefox browser and in the URL box type "about:config" & press enter, notice another box under the URL box called "Filter", in there type "network" ,now scroll down to about the middle of the page and on the left look for "network.http.pipelining" and double click it, u should notice that it changed into true rather than false and that's exactly what we want, now look at whats under "network.http.pipelining" it should be "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests", double click it and change the value from 4 to 10,now give your Firefox a restart and u are ready to go,I hope this works out with u, since it did work out for me.

2-How to skip the annoying adds in the Gamespot Video Player:

Ok, so this is really something i discovered a couple of days ago and it worked, it might not be a big deal for people who have high internet speed but nevertheless I thought i mention it, very simply, watch any video u desire and as soon as u see the add appearing, look on the right side of the video player, click the name of the video again and that should do it!! it will load the same video and this time the add will be gone!!

That's it for now, I hope the little info above was useful to you, and I also hope u liked it, thank you for reading.

Do I smell a new GTA IV trailer.....?

With GTA IV being delayed (duh!) there are some possibilities that we might see a new trailer on the horizon and the reason why I became suspicious lately is because its been 3 months from the last trailer and if u do some math u will notice that the date of the first trailer was in march the second was in June and the third could be in....................September !! Yes that's right I said it !! And I add on that to make it the end of September !! Now sure all this calculation could be wrong but you never know, it could happen.
