Lately...

Well, lately I've been on and off Gamespot for lack of time, I have been distributing my time between my better half, my work and my gaming.

As you are aware I acquired the Wii and I have been playing with it whenever I had time (been playing Red Steel and Rayman, along with Altered Beast and Super Mario 64) and we could summarize the whole experience as great fun! (Yes I know that Red Steel has been receiving very crappy reviews all over the world, but I'm still having fun blasting Yakuza tugs that yell at me assassin or murderer when I send them to the Netherworld, ironic isn't).

I want to take advantage of the community and ask them a big favor.

I plan to buy this next Friday a DS Lite, so if you own one I would really appreciate your recommendations on games for this platform, specifically on these genres:

RPG, Action/Adventure and Puzzles.

I am an Ol'Skool FPS gamer which means mouse/keyboard for me please, but if you really think I could make the jump in this platform with FPS games please do recommend games on that genre too.

As always thanks for reading and don't forget to post your recommendations!.

Wii Released... Go figure!

Well what do you know, after all my complaining and my long face, I got a call 3 hrs ago that they had the Wii in stock and I could pick it up anytime I wanted.

This became one of the coolest Sundays I had lately. I got my Wii, I made my Mii, I bought Altered Beast, I ruled in Bowling, I sucked at Golf and my beloved Dallas Cowboys, against all odds (please insert Phil Collins song here) won in a nail biting game to the (were) undefeated Indianapolis Colts!.

Yay for me and all the Dallas fans out here!, Yay for my Wii!.:D

 Ok, sorry about that, got a little carried away.

Thanks for checking the Blog and if you are interested in any review and/or impressions on the Wii console, please make your request in the comments area.

Wii Released...Not

As many of you my fellow gamers, I pre-ordered my Wii and was confirmed that I will receive it today along with millions of others players around the world.

Well it seems that after checking with the store they said that they have not received it yet but, "...For surely we will do so along the week!, be assured that your pre-order is completely safe with us. Call us again along the week!, and have nice day.".

I don't understand, is this supposed to make me happy?, that my pre-order is safe and a sure thing and that they will receive the Wii... ALONG the week?.

Well there you go, on more sad story to add to all the countlessĀ  that occurred on PS3 and Wii Worldwide release day.

So all I can do is, call "Do you guys have it yet ...mmm no not yet call later please... what about now? ... no, nothing please call again later..." etc.

Great way to expend the upcoming week.

Thanks for reading this and for letting me get this out of my system. :?

Game Art to you heart content!.

Eliza Gauger at Game|Life posted a wonderful link to some guy nicknamed Datamax which has a very impressive game art collection in Flickr.

I'm not sure if you need to subscribe to Flickr to be able to download them (it doesn't seem like it) but even if you do, it is a very small price to pay compared to the more than 700 high resolution images that this guy has (if you have a Yahoo account, subscription it's a cinch!).

You can also subcribe to Datamax's feed using your favorite RSS reader and be notified as soon as he uploads new material.

Kudos to Eliza for finding this link and to Datamax for sharing his wonderful collection.

Dragon Quest: Swords and Wii new footage!

I just found this footage of the new Dragon Quest: Swords game from Square-Enix for the Wii and I got to tell you it looks amazing.

It is "straight-linear" which means no wandering around, but it doesn't seem to be in detriment of the fun factor.

I can't hardly wait for it to be released in the Americas.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Don't forget to post your comments.

UPDATE!

It seems this gaming style has been used before in the game:

A PS3 Nightmare before Christmas

About a month ago I was surfing the net for ways to be able to preorder a PS3 online.

Being that I wasn't able to go to a store to acquire one and it didn't really matter how I got one as long as I did got one, I kept on checking the countless online stores around the world when I stumble with YesAsia.com, I have ordered movies through this site before and overall I always have receive a great service at competitive prices.

Low and behold they were taking some sort of preorder-preorder, which meant that you would subscribe to a list and they would send you a notification by e-mail when they were able to take preorders, then you would have to place the preorder, BUT going to all this process did not guarantee that at the end of it you would 100% get one PS3. Subscription to this list included a $50 coupon for the 60GB PS3 edition at $599, which made it more juicy. So seeing I got nothing to lose I subscribed to the newsletter.

I woke up today to find out I received my notification that they were taking preorders... NOW. So I surfed faster than the Silver Surfer to YesAsia.com to place my preorder and just when I was about to do so I noticed a little detail. The price is not longer $599.00 minus my coupon, now it says $1,899.00!. Blood almost shot through my nose "a la Anime" when I saw that, I checked frantically everywhere wishing it would be a price put in some weird currency or it might be a typo. Well it wasn't, it was $1,899 AMERICAN DOLLARS!. So after much trouble trying to contact someone from YesAsia.com I finally got someone from their Headquarters in Hong Kong who confirmed that the price was "right", I wasn't going to yell or insult some person who only mistake was to answer my call and work for these, these... THIEVES!. So I gather my cool, and only said... "SO, just to get this straight, this is not a typo, it's not a mistake, and because of the price that your providers set for this consoles and because of the limited quantity you got of these same consoles, you are charging the TRIPLE for one PS3 60GB edition, is that correct?", and the guy stumbling a little said "mmm... yyes sir!, that's about it".

So there you go, a store that I thought was a serious and respected one, who cared for his customers, has gone all "Ebay" on me and lot of other people who subscribed to that "joke" of preorder list.

This is my sad story, and I thought in sharing it with you. Beware out there guys, it's either grab or get mug!

"Preorder" letter after the jump.

Finally Oblivion...

...level 30. Yeah I finally got there, I am the Mages Guild Archmage, the Fighters Guild Master and the Arena Champion (I am also an Errant Knight and Brother of a Vampire Hunter society but the other ones are cooler). :D Anyway, I am still a little behind in the Main Quest, I am about to help defend Bruma, and I got the Azura Star for Martin, but... The thing is that when I was going to deliver the star he said if I was sure because I wont see it again, so that got me thinking and I changed my mind, now I want to visit the other shrines to see if they also give something. I don't want to help Bruma, Jauffre gave me that assignment and I have been postponing it. Why you say?, well after all these hours and "virtual days" (200 and something) in Oblivion I have come to many conclusions being one of them that I just plain HATE Oblivion. Oh don't get me wrong, not the game or the universe behind it, just the alternate dimension, Oblivion. For me it is depressing, it's like going to hell time and time again, their denizens getting stronger and in more quantities, the scenery it's depressing and lethal, almost every single thing on it wants to hurt you bad and most of all unrewarding, going through all that just to get one lousy stone (Yes I know that "lousy" stone can sometimes recharge my whole arsenal or enchant a new weapon, but still is not enough) and close that gate, 2 mins later another 5 gates appear all over Cyrodill. I mean doesn't that bother anyone?. I don't remember feeling like that with NWN or Fable. I take a ride on foot or in my horse (the one I got free from the beginning) I walk 2 steps, 2 wolfs, more steps, a bear, 3 steps, 2 bandits etc... just hope things begin to pick up as in exciting not as in 3 dozens of enemies waiting to kill me around the corner because it sure doesn't look that way so far. If I don't finish Oblivion before I get my copy of NWN2 I am surely leave it at that for a while. BTW anyone knows how to get NWN2 collector's edition to ship overseas?. Thanks and until next time!.

Wii in Latin America

Sam's Club in Mexico is beginning to take pre-orders on the Wii with a $26dlls Pre-order card. The total cost of the console will be around the $430dlls... yup that is right almost twice, and people complain about paying $50 more than they expected for the Wii...

Along some very low (read crappy) images taken with a cell after the jump.

This a closeup of the Pre order card, as big as a notebook.

The rig is a Bravia LCD, a Sony in a Box HT and a Sony DVD player (ironic isn't) playing the promotional we have already seen; Metroid, Smash Bros, Zelda and Red Steel among others.

If you would like better pictures or perhaps a video I will do my best to comply. :D

100th Milestone.

Looking back at all the things I've post, all the people I've met and the feelings expressed it is plain to see that it has been good... more than that it has been great.

Independently from the jokes, negativity, intolerance and angerĀ  that may plague any community where individuals interact with each other, the outcome here has always been heavier on the positive side.

This is a great community full of people who share the same desires and joys and as diverse as the world itself.

Thanks to all you that have touch my life through this experience, you know who you are, and I hope to have made a good impression in yours.

It's been good... more than that it's been great.

Systems Wars... No more!

I find myself wondering how many gamers are out there, how many like me, without brands, nicknames or labels.

Gamers that surf the forums for information, for insight on the next generation to come.

Gamers like me who want to be as informed as possible without entering in "life or dead" discussions about "who" or "what" is best.

For we, games are doors and we look to travel to that galaxy far away, to that enchanted forest or just take a trip around the corner in that new "Lamborghini Murcielago".

We who play REGARDLESS of consoles or systems partisanship.

How many of you are there... or am I alone?.
