Now before i get started i will say i have no HD TV in my home, and my experience with HD is very little, but i will to talk about HD. Also i like to point out that i own an 360 and Wii, so no Fanboy comments will be said in this paragraph.
Since the Launch of the Xbox 360 in November of 2005, Gamers were shown extreme looking graphics for the nex-gen system, but the only problem was in order to see those extreme graphics you must own an HD TV, or you get not 100% clear graphics although still pretty good. The PS3 came it it was built with the HD/Blu-Ray player in mind, not regular TV. The Wii came and there was something that they did correctly, still focus on regular TV and not made the step into HD. Wii did the best thing nintendo could of have done, made a system that looks great no matter what kind of TV your on. Hd TV are really expensive and the Tiny cheap ones dont look as good or cant go into 1080i resolution. Stanard Def TV still sell and most people still have some, but why are companies making the jump into HD when Standard Def still has two years left before it goes Digital? Cant they build a system that was meant for Standard def but could go into HD if they wanted to, instead of the other way around? They wanted the leg on on the competition, but its failing do to the fact that people are going to buy Wii for it's cheap and runs perfectly in 480p. I think that once HD TVs sell alot more than Standard Def, and most people have them in their Household is when system and game developers should heavily focus on HD games and not now, Give me Bioshock that looks Amazing in regular Def and High Def with no difference in either one. Give me Crysis that can be played even on the xbox 1 if they needed to. Valve is a company that still makes game for graphics cards that should of been replace with years ago. Once People have HD TVs is when i will officialy acknowledge that there is a race against systems because then there will be 3 HD systems in one race instead of 2 competitors in the HD race and 1 running unopposed in the Standard Def race. Besides, in the time when everyone has an HD TV, The system developers will have a new system out anyways and everything will become out dated. That will be a race, but if the next Zelda looks like DMC4 by then nintendo will still win, and sony might be able to come back, but until then ill stick with running my HD systems on a Standard Def TV, even though deep down i know it would look a whole lot better in HD.
