I hope they don't continue with dual protagonist for future assassins creed. Even if they do I hope it is done like they did in Syndicate where both male and female are two different person and not just reskin of each other like in Odyssey.
@P00DGE: Modern day wasn't great but at least it was heading somewhere plot wise. Desmond trained for all those years for what? Just to be killed by Ubisoft because they decided that it was better to milk the franchise instead of giving the fans a definite conclusion. That scene where Ezio talks to desmond, that was a powerful scene and which solidify the existence of animus. Animus had a purpose in the game now it has been reduced to find the artifacts of Eden. That's all. It's just lazy writing.
I agree on your last sentence that it should have had a loose story that stretches across history instead. That way they would have actually fleshed out the characters and story more.
@Mogan: They actually did continue the story after black flag in COMICS...in freaking comics. Now based on this, I'll let you decide then just how serious Ubisoft is with their story is Assassin's Creed games post black flag.
Story wise assassins creed has lost its purpose ever since ubisoft decided to kill Desmond. Now we don't know why we are using animus since there is barely any story in modern day. And what little is shown is so inconsistent that it doesn't even make sense. I just don't feel the same attachment I did with previous games. Game is fun though but that's about it. I had hoped ubisoft would give us a focused story but alas that's not going to happen.
After this I don't think capcom will have anything to fear in their implementation of micro transaction in DMC 5 and will easily get away with their practice.
Now people can't complain either..after all, they are the ones who are buying and promoting this shit.
@gamingdevil800: I loved how every side quest even the witcher contracts quest in the white orchard was connected by one main backstory. It was really worthwhile to complete the side content in the witcher 3.
@revanxknight: Clearly these guys had no problem collecting insects and stones in Zelda BOTW(yeah...cause that had soo much purpose for NPCs right?). But hey, this is not Nintendo but ubisoft so clearly they have to criticize it.
Btw loved the new side quests direction that ubisoft gave origins by providing some story. For odessey I hope they improve upon it and take the story for side quest to be much more impactful than before like witcher 3 did.
@manu_pt: you say pc don't get relevant games anymore and yet you skipped the 3rd highest rated game this year divinity original sin 2 which is as of this moment a pc exclusive.
