I have some money coming my way after the 8th of November - huge payout from betting on Donald Trump, enough to upgrade either my TV or Monitor. I am currently using a Philips 242G5DJEB, not the best picture quality but it gets the job done as for TV I have a 55" Samsung 3D capable TV bought 3-4 years ago, never used the 3D functionality. Could someone on these boards please suggest a suitable monitor or TV which I should upgrade to? Money is not big of an issue however I would prefer to keep it below 1 grand, I am looking for good picture quality, no input lag.

Depends how cheap you can get one for, bear in mind whilst future Xbox games will all be on pc - there are still some masterpieces or great games like Gears of war 2,3, Sunset Overdrive, Halo, Older Forza games which can only be played on Xbox one and backwards compatibility.

You get what you pay for - For the most part if you own a console whether it be a PS4 or Xbox One, you will get access to 90% of AAA games, the other 10% accounts for the competitor console's exclusives and games which are barely playable on consoles. I would argue games like The Evil Within is completely unplayable on consoles simply because of the low frame-rates. Games like The Witcher 3 are barely playable on consoles due to low frame-rates and terrible load times. Spending a little bit more than a console on a PC with a GTX970 and SSDs will dramatically improve the experience of games like Witcher 3 or anything with a long load time on consoles. Then there are Ubisoft games which are so poorly optimized for the PC you won't really notice that much of a difference upgrading from console to PC. At the end of the day it depends on what you play and how much of a performance increase you prefer over a $300-400 console.
