Gamespot does have a chance I agree. But so far they have dropped the ball even more. There has been no official statement of any substance. I check the site every day expecting to see a big appology on the flash scrolling banner.

This should be the most important point in Gamespot history for them to react and they are just sitting on their hands. Every day, nah, every hour that goes by without them saying something is hurting them exponentially. They need to get a letter direct from the top that says they screwed up, they are sorry, they will be doing everything they can to gain their integrity back and that they learned a valuable lesson and this won't happen again.

Consumers can be very forgiving. People screw up, especially in a huge business world. That's only fair. It's how you recover from the misstake that people watch, remember Tylenol and the huge misstake they had? They rebounded from that amazingly, and people praise them for how they handled it. Gamespot needs to come out and make a statement on this, and not just spin it and say it is coinsidence because even if it is. No one will believe them or care, they need to say, "Hey, we screwed up, we are sorry, we learned a big lesson and are taking steps to ensure the integrity of our reviews. Here are the steps, etc." If I was them I would even go as far as banning all game ads for now at least. They have plenty of non-game ads such as Mt Dew, Dell, Best Buy etc. no reason they couldn't live off those until they get their integrity back. I would forgive Gamespot if they did that and had more transparentcy and I feel others would do the same.

Margaret Thatcher had no problems with foreign relations and the middle east. What you say shows you obviously do not know anything about their culture. There would be absolutely no issues due to a gender of the leader. Muslims respect women in power, they still have cultural rules for them and what not but they still do respect their power. They would treat any presidential women exactly like they would treat any other.

I have lost all trust in Gamespot. First you unfairly moderate my posts then you show just how little your integrity is. I have visted this site longer than probably most of the staff that is there now. Screw you guys.

hmm good points considering when i clicked on this thread i expected a fanboyish argument threat =]

true Xbox 360 is having a 'hot streak' but what happens when its over and that is inevidable they will be forced to innovate but if they dont come up with anything exciting i think people will look at the console as a 'stale' so that is why i say they need to take risks cos the fact of the matter is risks are exciting i mean i took a risk buying a PS3 (that does not mean that i'm anti 360 or a fanboy) and i am having alot of fun with it, point is i took a risk and i am rewarded with fun =D

so yeah in my view is that microsoft needs to take a risk with the 360 and introduce something new and exciting (even if its something a little bit gimikey)

I may be a rabid fanboy but I still use logic. :P

their R&D is nothing but a waste ! have you seen vista or 360 ? you should seriously read up how ms tried to maintained its control and monopoly. try reading about java or netscape and msnaval
Ok, I'm starting to think you are just a troll or very dumb. Considering your signature says games not even out yet are the best I am not to sure what you say is credible.

At least you spelled "their" right.

Edit: Also you seem to like the PC, which is Microsoft so you confuse me.

ok yes live is an innovation true i'll give you that :P

but your comments on blu ray are flawed. blu ray can be 100 + gig and is mass marketable the whole blu ray concept is an innovation moreso than the HD DVD concept however that is in the context of innovation. In the context of production issues (costs, developing etc) as with every new format there will be problems producing things for said format for a while untill devs are comfortable with it. your argument on paramount going to HD DVD that is invalid as most prominent movie studios are already on Blu ray.

I think microsoft should be ready to take risks with the gaming industry right about now Xnox 360 being there second console they had there 'safe zone' with the Xbox it is time to take risks and show some innovation.

big_smoke_666
I won't bother getting into a whole format argument because I think they both suck regardless. Digital distribution is where it is at and Microsoft is leading the way there.

I would also say that I don't think it is safe for them to innovate yet. Maybe for the Xbox 720 or Xbox 3.14 whatever they call it. But I would consider what they have done with the 360 pretty innovative in terms of it having the guide and unified menus in game. I could imagine it would have been hard to convince all game developers to allow the console to do that to their game. But it has proven successful and even though I don't know much of what went on behind the scenes I think some innovation took place there that posed some risk.

Thats a good point, but that was just one example off the top of my head. I think paying for gamer pics and themes might be a better example to get my point across... I was shocked when I saw they wanted money for a pack of a few pictures...Not-A-Stalker
I agree there also, but to combat that I simply do not buy them. There aren't really any I want so it's not a big deal, the only thing I would like would being able to chose your own gamerpic and make themes yourself with pictures streamed to the console.

I do not really understand why they have gamerpics and themes for sale but someone must be buying them so you can't really blame them if it's working.
