Guess I'll just try recleaning it...I have had a few problems, like the EU III demo not working on my computer, when it definately should as I vastly exceed the minimum stats.  I did build the computer myself, and I may have done somethin wrong...even though I had an computer specialist come over and double check it.

Thanks a bunch for the link.  Unfortunately, I cleaned the discs a bunch in between downloads, and though I havn't tried reinstalling in a day or so, the installations all got to 50% within a matter of minutes...no slowdowns at all

guess I'll just try again, but thanks anyways

If I may...

A)  I already checked on google and while I know that this error sometimes occurs w/ DVDs, I never saw anything about it occuring in game discs

B)  Like I said, the games worked fine on my old computer

C)  I ran RAM tests multiple times...in fact, three months ago, I sent my RAM back to the company and got new sticks (the old ones were slightly defective)...after two sets of RAM (four sticks in all), I can't imagine how my RAM could be at fault...

I've now gotten this error message two times: when trying to reinstall KOTOR II and when trying to reinstall San Andreas.  Both worked perfectly on my old computer; the stats on my new one I built myself are as follows:

2 gigs RAM
Nvidia GeForce 7600 GT (256mb)
2 NEC 16x DVD burners
Maxtor 250gb SATA hard drive 7200 rpm
Intel Pentium D processor, 2.8 GHz
Intel 975XBX2KR Intel Socket 775 motherboard

in short, it's not that my computer can't handle the game.  Not to brag, but it can run BF2 at 70fps, so my computer definately meets the minimum specs.

Does anyone know how to fix the error?
