@game0verman: That's it! Thanks man! Is there anything I gotta do now, like, make a note on my comment to say its been solved or something?

@Black_Knight_00: sad to say that it wasn't. Though there were a couple of games that kinda looked like it. Ultima came pretty close, though there was no first-person perspective in this game that I'm looking for. It wasn't nearly as colorful as Ultima though. I'm thinking that the style was probably typical of a late 80s game.
@Black_Knight_00: correct. you only control one character.
Reposting my comments here in accordance with Black Knights instructions. I'm looking for an old game that I played on a friend's computer back sometime in the very early 2000's, though I believe the game to be much older than that. I also believe that the computer was one of the Apple models, though I can't remember which one. It was an RPG/Dungeon crawler with a top-down perspective. You played an adventurer on a medieval/fantasy quest, though I never got far enough in the game to figure out what the quest was. Your character was a sprite displayed in a window depicting the area you were in surrounded by other windows detailing information about your character. Your character, if I'm remembering correctly, could be male or female. The sprite of your character in the main window showed only the upper half of the body and the waist and thighs of the character, no legs. The female version of the hero was shown dressed in what looked like a bikini, while the male version was topless and wearing what looked like a speedo, unless I'm mixing up two different games. This may have been 8-bit or 16-bit, I don't recall. Your character was also shown holding a sword in the right hand, even if you had a different weapon equipped, I think. Your character had a limited field of view, and revealed the map as you moved your character. Character movement seemed to follow a hidden grid pattern, no movement animation. You just tapped the up arrow on your keyboard or num pad and the character moved one square up. Beneath the main window, or perhaps on the sides somewhere, there was a text box that would display information about what was happening around you in typical tabletop RPG fashion. For example, if you encountered an enemy, it would say something like, "You have stumbled upon an orc." It may have also said something about how strong the enemy appeared and if it was wounded, but I can't be sure about that. The enemy, and everything else in the world, only moved or attacked if you moved. If you did not do anything or issue any commands, then nothing would happen. But if you moved in any direction, or cast a spell or drank a potion or something, then the enemy would act, so it was almost like a turn-based kind of game, though not quite. You attacked the enemy with a melee weapon or with spells. If using a melee weapon, you would approach the enemy and try to move your character into the same space as the monster, and try to occupy his hidden square. This would attack the creature. As I said, you also had magic and a mana pool, though I don't recall if the game used this term. You could replenish your hit points and magic points by sleeping wherever your character was at the moment. If you did this in a dungeon, there was the chance that an enemy would surprise you and get in an attack before you woke up. Enemies dropped loot that you collected and sold in the village. Shopkeepers would pay you in gold and silver, and for really valuable loot exceeding a certain gold value, they would give you platinum. I distinctly remember the message that would appear in the textbox when you leveled up. It would say, "Welcome to level <insert level here>." I believe there was also a system clock that would display how many days had passed since beginning the game. I have no idea how long each day lasted. I would not recognize this game by its title, it's been far too long since I played it. Any links to a screenshot would be greatly appreciated.
Solved: Castle of the Winds
So, I posted a description of a game in another thread with this same topic and I am wondering if anyone here goes to check on that other thread or should I post the description here as well so more people see it? Kinda new to message board posting and not sure of the etiquette rules.
Your character had magic and a mana pool. I don't know if the game called it such. But if you were running low on health and/or magic, you had the option to go to sleep right where you were at the time and replenish those things. Enemies could surprise you if you fell asleep in a dungeon, which was very frustrating if you had just finished a attle with a powerful enemy and were in no shape to fight even the weakest of opponents. The game had a town where you could go to sell your loot and the shopkeepers would pay you in gold and silver pieces, with platinum pieces being rewarded for loot exceeding a certain value of gold. The whole game had the feel of a text-based adventure game that someone decided needed a visual element to it. That's all I can remember about it. Hope that's enough details to help somebody find it. I would never be able to recognize it by name. It's been too long. I would need to see a picture of it to say whether its the one I am looking for.
There was a text box portion under the visual map screen with your character, which reported what was going on around you. Your character had limits on how far they could see, so an enemy could all of a sudden appear and start to approach you and the text box would say usual tabletop comments like, "An orc has been spotted." The enemies would only move if you moved, and you attacked by moving your character into them and either trying to occupy the same place or by clicking a sword button, I don't remember which. And the text box would tell you, "You've been scratched for 2 damaged." "You have sliced the ghoul for 7 damage." The text box would also tell you the game time, I think, in terms of how many game hours and days you had been on a quest. I do remember specifically that when you leveled up, the text box would say, "Welcome to level 5 (or whatever level you had reached)."
I'm looking for a game that I played on an Apple computer many years ago. It was an 8-bit top down dungeon crawler RPG. I believe your character could be either male or female. The sprite of your character only had an upper body and a waist, no legs. The female sprite was depicted as wearing a bikini, while the male sprite was topless and looked like he was wearing a speedo. Both carried weapons in their right hand, I think, and no alterations to the sprite occurred if you equipped any armor or shield, or an alternate weapon such as a spear. Movement looked like they followed a hidden grid, that is, they moved by squares, which you did not see. You used either the arrow keys or the num pad to move, with the num pad being used to move diagonally.
Since this lousy box on the bottom won't let me copy and paste text, I'm gonna describe a game that I'm looking for in multiple posts so I don't have to retype the whole thing again if I get an error, which has happened three times so far.
